Dang it. I knew I forgot something! When I was reviewing this, I saw a loose thread and I disregarded it. Shouldn't have. Okay, I'll fix that.

Sorry it's even longer than before, but we finally have the New Ugly review for round 2 here: http://podcast.songlander.com/?name=201 ... in14-2.mp3.

I'm noticing a lot of missing audio, where you guys drop out and its just the quiet track playing and then you come back 30s later, losing the review in the interim. Is anyone else having this issue?

Also, Ben- glad I'm not the only one who heard GoT in Merisan's song!

Thanks for spotting my mistakes! Looks like I accidentally deleted a couple quick bits while trying to clean up; I got too aggressive, apparently XD. I'm uploading a new version of the episode shortly / whenever Mike can upload the file for me to his server since it's slightly too big. For now, the episode has been removed, so I'll update the link when it's back up.

Grumpy Mike and Ben: (Just finished listening. Beloved? :D ) Thanks for comments over the years. Ben: so you don't want LOUDER vocals, you want more PRESENT? Is it a reverb/ delay problem [easy to fix] or the vocal performance [not so easy] ?
My terminology is terrible, but it might be whatever you would call a reverb problem. If you play with the setting, I'll certainly let you know what I think and if I was right or not!

Edit: New episode is going up now, link if you don't use iTunes is http://podcast.songlander.com/?name=201 ... 2fixed.mp3.

Thanks for the kind words, New Uglies! In terms of the Vowl Sounds process, the way it usually works is that I'll create a basic track and send it to owl, who will write some lyrics (and ask for any structural changes if required, e.g. this song was originally under two and a half minutes long because I am terrible at leaving enough gaps to tell a story!) and make a ton of other suggestions, and also sometimes send over tracks of other instruments to mix in, and then I add a load of other stuff and we bounce it back and forth until we're both happy with the mix. So owl can definitely take credit for all of the lyrics and I'm happy to take credit for some of the musical stuff, e.g. the "doodly lines" (I think this song definitely had some of my best guitar playing ever!), but the end result is a total team effort and my mixes definitely wouldn't come out sounding so good if I wasn't getting a load of suggestions, because I'm terribly lazy and find it extremely easy to convince myself that the first version of a song is the definitive one, which is almost never actually the case.

Niveous - amazingly creative review! Really enjoyed that.

Niveous--hats off, that was an amazingly written review!

New Ugly--Ben, I'm from California, but my dad's name is Patrick, so that's almost kind of like being Irish, I guess

Mike, I threw some extra melisma in this week just for you

Hey Niveous, did you ever end up having a reaction to the Mandibles song? Just curious. :)
