Madison got 7" of snow yesterday as we were en route to Tulsa for a wedding... disastrous day, friend didn't pick us up to take us to the airport, but as it turns out, all our flights were delayed so we ended up arriving in Oklahoma about 5 hours late. But we still made it to the bachelor/ette party and the weather here is nice. My husband and I are en route to the Skeleton Museum in Oklahoma City, I am very excited!
(I only got a little over half my "I Used to Know You Better" reviews written up before leaving. Is anyone still interested in reading very late reviews if I finish them once I'm back?)
The last time my parents went to Tulsa resulted in them being stuck in an ice storm there. I don't think travel plans to or from that city ever end well. I wish I'd known there was a Skeleton museum in OKC last time I was in that region.
And yes, I'd love to read reviews, especially since yours tend to be super detailed!

A bird flew into one of our windows this morning. At first glance I thought it was dead, but then realised it was just stunned and a little out of sorts. It was sitting in a very exposed spot though (I live on farmland and there are lots of feral cats around; not helped by our next door neighbour feeding them), so I put some socks on my hands and relocated it to shelter in the hedges. A few minutes later it perked up and hopped away. Hooray!
Meanwhile, I’ve been working on re-recording some songfight entries as instrumentals to play as background music on my YouTube videos. My channel is mostly art and diy stuff, and I haven’t uploaded anything for a while even though I’m halfway through a bunch of projects, because I’d run out of music and had used @Toshiro’s stuff too much, which I love, but the lyrics kept getting in the way and I wanted something new. Doing this was part of the reason for starting songfight in the first place, so yay!
I’m not saying that verses are cursed or anything, but for the past two weeks I’ve randomly received bad news while writing my verses. <looks sideways at songfight>
Relevant to crumpart's earlier post, I left the house this morning to take my car in for some regular maintenance and discovered a bird laying prone on my doorstep. Unlike in crumpart's story though this bird was indeed quite dead. I hadn't dealt with a dead bird before so I looked up how to dispose of it properly and did that. The poor thing was intact but had a bruise on its head. I'm guessing it must have flown into the glass in our front door or the window next to it. Very sad. RIP bird!
They leave packages by my garage exposed to sun and rain when they could walk slightly further and at least put them only porch. In their defense, FedEx and USPS do the same thing. USPS is probably the least likely to do it though...

Last night I dreamed that the optional challenge for the next fight was ‘an actual bee sting’ and all the songs had some top-shelf screaming and swearing.

Well, I do know the whereabouts of a beehive I could go piss off...

this is amazing! but please don't give Lunkhead ideas about this, I am not that prepared to suffer for my art.
I have never been stung by a bee, but I once got stung multiple times by a wasp that flew up my skirt at my cousin's garden wedding while they were saying their vows.
After reading this thread the day before and hearing about the bird hitting the window... a bird flew into my window the other day as well... luckily it seems to have glanced off it at an angle... otherwise I fear that the worst would have happened. Write a song... Birds & Windows.
Can you believe how long ago that was? Bee Sting was from the year before I discovered SongFight-- March 2001 (the On A Line fight).
And Jeff's cover of that song was from my 40th birthday "secret fight". Seven (7) years ago for crying out loud.
I'm on the interstate in Alabama. Most of the trees aren't that colorful. With the except for the pines and a stray magnolia or cedar, almost everything is a uniform brown. Though I did just pass a small stand of red maple, which was a nice splash of color to break up the monotony.

Are you driving? Are you controlling the music? I love driving. I also love controlling the music. This is why I've never minded driving 24 hrs straight to Florida or Arkansas. Or 13-16 hrs straight to Nashville or Michigan. My knee doesn't like it... and 24 hrs is a bit too much especially as I've gotten older... but there is nothing better than the open road and a great playlist! Woo!

Work trip! I'm riding shotgun. We have arrived at our destination now. I just ate a shrimp po'boy at a restaurant across the street from fraternity row at UA. Roll tide?
But no, no control over the music. We've been listening to the top 40 station. It's been a bunch of songs I don't know and then Billie Eilish like 4 times.

My neighbor (or our landlord) decided to start doing construction of some kind downstairs yesterday, which continued until about 9 PM and then picked up again around 9 AM today. Lots of drilling, hammering, screeching saws, loud talking, it's great. I have no idea what's going on down there, but I work from home and have to listen to it all day, can't wait till they're done.
They've been doing construction upstairs in my office building the past 3 weeks... How long does it take to renovate from one office space to another office space? Wish I saw a before and after because that took way longer than I'd have expected... and now the new people upstairs are walking around all day long in high heels on their (assuming, newly installed) hardwood floors. Yay! Should I buy a pair of slippers and leave them in front of their office door?
Yes. They can all take turns wearing them. It will be like those talking sticks you pass around, except a walking stick, except also it's a pair of slippers.
I grew up in knoxville, y'know, UT, orange and white. There were traffic cones that were up for years on end and I always swore it was just an excuse to put more orange and white up everywhere...
