I'm in early, for once. I also took the most obvious interpretation of the title, using an autobiographical incident.

Once the songs come out, if anyone can explain, from a musical theory perspective, why my chorus sounds like a metal ballad, I would appreciate the insight. Let me know if you want to see the sheet music. For some reason, all the music I wrote sounded sinister, even though I was trying to write a happy, sentimental song. It's either bad or funny, but I'm not sure which.

I've got something recorded already too, although I'm afraid I quickly abandoned the optional challenge. Minor chords are just so nice! I had an idea for some cover art too but I think it's beyond my extremely limited artistic ability.

I figured you'd join the fray! If a fight involving New Mexico came up and you stood it out I would have been kind of disappointed.

Anyway, my track is probably 2/3 done, definitely involves New Mexico, and is my first collaborative effort in awhile -- got Soulflow back for this one.

My own personal experience going to Four Corners wasn't terribly exciting. I went back in 1999 on a family vacation, and while the surrounding desert views were remarkably pretty, I found all of the other destinations we visited within the state a lot more awesome. I mean White Sands and Carlsbad Caverns are hard to compete with. It's one of my great regrets in life that I lost my hat I bought at the Roswell UFO Museum.

I can't say that I wish death on NO man, but of the human beings I'm aware of, it's honest to say I wish death on very, very few of them. A handful, if that. One of them certainly wasn't Mike Hughes, who, if you haven't heard, is a man who died yesterday in a rocket he personally built. Mike very vocally stated his rocket was meant to help him prove the Earth is flat. He was not on our minds several days ago when we began work on this week's entry, and our entry is in no way about him or connected to him at all. That is just unfortunate timing. I have this weird, vague feeling I've had to offer a similar disclaimer on Songfight before.

I wanted to be in! The song is tracked, but the dude with the guitars doesn't seem to have come back with the mixdown in time. (Can't beat him up too much, because FAWM.)

Well, if a miracle occurs by morning we'll be in. More likely, I'll be posting the FAWM link on the reviews thread, and whining.

Hey Elaine. If the new songs aren't posted by the time you get your song done then go ahead and send it in. Seems to be common practice these days. (Read that as I've done it and have had good success at being included.)
