Maybe it is because Mo... This Nur Ein keeps bringing me back:

I actually assumed that your posting a Chewbacca Bra song last week was likely to have inspired this week's title. The world may never know.

Where did we land with percussive mouth sounds? I’m taking this challenge to mean as many vocal tracks as you like, but only two instrumental tracks. I figure body percussion is its own instrument, but What about percussive vocal takes?

I have discovered at least 12 distinct musical instruments I can perform on/with/though/ out of my body. Covering all five orchestral instrument families.

If any clarification is forthcoming, this would be useful to me as well.

I'm afraid Glenn's "Use your judgment" might be the best answer we'll get.

Let me clarify what I am specifically trying to avoid.

For example: Let's say that the judges specify that "Unlimited mouth sounds are okay." At that point we set ourselves up for a situation where someone goes nuts with the mouth sounds, and maybe judge #3 and judge #5 don't like what the contestant did, and they rank the contestant lower... But wait! "YOU SAID THAT WOULD BE OKAY! WHY DID YOU RANK ME LOWER FOR A THING THAT YOU SAID WAS OKAY! YOU GUYS ARE A BUNCH OF JERKS!*"

Realistically? All 5 of the judges have different personal preferences, and each ranking is going to depend on a number of things? How much do we like the song? Did the artist at least attempt to meet the challenge? How many times did they mention Mo in the chorus?

As far as I am concerned - An artist's INTERPRETATION of the challenge can be one of the key factors in making a song great. Stray too far from what the challenge says, and it could pay off handsomely, or it could doom the song. That is up to your discretion.

If you seek approval for whether or not something is okay, and we specify what we want? A judge or two might rank you low anyway! Then what?

Ultimately, my BEST advice is - Just write a good song! Write the best song that you can make for that round.

The real question is though "Chupacabra" is a particularly mezo-american term. I am sure that the judges are not going mark me down if I were convert that to a southern hemispheric cryptozooic creature like a bunyip, yowie or kadagi man?

Is the song title kadagi man? Sounds like cheating to me. If the title were “kangaroo” I wouldn’t write about deer and claim geographical immunity.

Maybe you write about the chupacabra taking a vacation to visit his bunyip cousin down under.

If the title were “kangaroo” I would accept your song about a deer. It makes complete sense. They are both big brown meat bags.

As i understand it - a chupacabra is a canid. A bunyip is an an aquatic carnivore. Not cousins. Even in the crypto world.

I admit I had to look up what chupacabra meant. I have heard the term, but only because it’s what Toshiro has nicknamed one of the dinners I make.

Bonus points to anyone who writes a song this
a) good
b) short

It seems the best song about chupacabras has already been made. I guess we can all go home.

Seriously, though, that is hard to top.

You can make a pretty full sound with one synth patch so I hope that the result doesn't sound like cheating to the judges. It really is just one synth patch; just with parts going on in multiple octaves. I'm thinking this is fine because the Dresden Dolls example has a full sound with the piano.

My two instruments: one synth patch, one 808 drum machine.

This is a cool challenge because it has me creating something quite unlike my usual tracks.
