Wow, that playlist was a real journey. Too bad they didn't have the Chris Cornell Bond theme.

Also, we've reached the Nur Ein halfway point! Four weeks down, four to go.

This feels way out of my wheelhouse, but I guess that makes it a good challenge, eh?

Typically, the judges ding vague, melodramatic, cliched lyrics, but now I guess you want this? Bond themes are full of this pap.

I want all the lyrics to sound like the Mountain Goats*, and I can’t stand Chris Cornell**. Have fun trying to please both of us!

* not really, although The Best Ever Death Metal Bond out of Denton would be a good Bond theme
** definitely true

Now I know how I survived Round One. Thank you!

Also, someone not on these boards said that my "Rear Window" sounded Mountain Goats-ish too. I just can't get them out of my songs!

I think I mentioned my affection for that band in my review for that round, but on the other hand, I know at least one of the other judges can’t stand them, so again... good luck trying to please us all :)

The Sunday Colors from last year’s Nur Ein still wins the Darnielle-alike award in my book, though.

Well, I guess I won't be finishing my thematic instrumental that's 20 minutes long and has a different instrument playing a variation of the melody every roughly 30-60 seconds before going back to the hook to introduce the next, as the instruments slowly degrade in sophistication until there's a flushing toilet.

“Bond” is referring to James Bond, a famous book and movie character. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.

You know, "Carte Blanche" is from the French for "blank check." And a bond is a financial instrument as well. I'm wondering whether anyone will have the chutzpah to try out that alternate take on the title/challenge.
