Well, if there’s a silver lining to not being able to get together in person, I guess it’s nice that we get to have international participation! Looking forward to it.

So one idea I had was to submit a single "live" track each week, which would be more like a radio show rotation (or the original MTV!) but I'm not sure how well that idea would go over. It would be much easier to try to record 4 good take single tracks than a set of all good takes.

As for the process, I was thinking of at least (minimally) recording me playing guitar and singing into my iPhone video. Might play with a backing track of full music or maybe just have a drum loop track playing behind me. But I'm not gonna overthink it.

Hi Everyone,

As part of setting up for our livestreams, I've created a Song Fight YouTube channel, and we need your help! We'd love to have the /songfight URL (or something similar if that's not available)-- but we can't have a custom URL until the channel has 100 followers.

So, please go subscribe to this channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPmilf ... KhLzi4F9Rg

Thanks,

JB

This songfight live crap is gonna be the death of me. I was thinking I needed to do a couple of videos for songs and now there's this where I actually have a reason to do one. AND I have to practice something for the live stream. *sigh*

Subscribed. Once I get to work I'll subscribe there as well.

Here is how I edit my No Fake Friday videos.

There are probably better methods, but here is how I do it in case that helps.

I'm just excited to see someone else in this who lives near me. Bjam, start making entries again so I'm not the only person in Georgia submitting.

I submitted a video I made a while back for Lurker. Unfortunately I never made the deadline on the Fight due to a power outage (you can add that to the list of excuses post). Anyway, no sweat if the video doesnt count because the tune was never actually submitted to a fight. Just figured it might help if you needed content.

One of the songs I always perform wasn't completed in time for the original fight, and nobody's complained yet, so I think you're good. :)

I often perform a "Romantic Cheapskate" entry I wrote but didn't finish in time, too.

Im quite prolific. I've been attempting to write and record music for the past 10 years or so. In that time I have completed (fasten your seatbelts) 8 songs. All them have been for a Song Fight. Only 5 have been submitted. Maybe one day a year theres a side fight cage match where songfighters throw in one of their no-show tunes and they battle it out. A free for all (since the song titles may be different). As I was looking through my vast catalogue of 8 classic song fight tunes, I did happen to stumble across another excuse to add to the Excuse list post. For the 'Royal Baby" fight about 7 years ago, I finished the song, missed the deadline, and added it to soundcloud page along with the excuse written in the notes "Another Song Fight challange. Another missed deadline. It was worth it though, because at the time of the deadline I was watching Beck perform Live." If anybody wants to review it....ah maybe not..https://soundcloud.com/jake-delorey/cro ... -home-demo

I’m thinking maybe a live lead vocal and whatever instrument part I can play live with tracks behind it. I don’t know how interesting that would be though. I don’t think getting a band together is much of an option for me, even over the interwebs. I might try a few practice runs and see what happens. It did cross my mind to do an actual music video...

BTW -- This is definitely in for tomorrow. I know it's gonna be a bad time for you, but it'll play sometime between 9 and 10 eastern US time.
