Gift of Music 2020/2021

Post by Niveous »

I know there was a GOM a few months ago but it is a yuletide tradition and the OG host (me) is back around... Should we do this thing? Any interest?

Yes! It was lots of fun last time and pretty soon it’s going to be too cold here for me to want to go outside, so hopefully that at least means more time for music.

I listen to that every day so I thought it hardly worth mentioning

Okay, this seems like significant interest. So, if I were to say: choices by the end of November, covers by the end of December, think we can handle that?

Hey, I didn't say to start posting!

Though I appreciate your enthusiasm.

Okay everyone.
Welcome to GOM 2020/2021

To play along, post up a list of 4 songs that you would love to hear a cover of. You have until the end of the month to join up.
On December 1st, I'll divy up the lists among the participants and you will have until the end of December to cover one of the songs on your list.

Let's go!

Posting before I overthink it.

Song of the Sea, Lisa Hannigan

***
Alt video for the Lisa Hannigan song, which hopefully works for everyone.

And edited for a third time, because I accidentally posted the Irish language video there so. You can sing it in Irish if you like, but here’s the English version.

***

Brown Shoes, Sing Street

Why am I like this?, Orla Gartland

***
Alt video for the Orla song, which hopefully works for everyone.

***

Fire It Up, Foy Vance
(I know. This video has TWO songs in it. Do with that what you will. I was at this gig. It was magical.)

Heads up to crumpart and j$ that the videos for Lisa Hannibal, orla gartland, and j$’s first song are blocked in the US (at least for me). I can try to find crumpart’s songs by name but I’d suggest to j$ and everyone else to put the artist and title in the text of your post as well.
