A 9/11 Every Day
A 9/11 Every Day
Robyn Mackenzie
Woke up to the headlines
In the winter morning sun
I tried to remember
The dream that I had just begun
It's a brand new year again
The last one was just pretend
So I'll just lay here in bed instead, I guess
Took a look in the mirror
Staring at a brand new face
Took a walk in the sunset
Looking for a quiet place
And I swear I'm getting better
But I feel a little under the weather
And after all, it's never gonna stay away
And I say ooh
Is it over yet, is it over yet
Oh ooh
'Cause I'm over it, yeah I'm over it
And the skies are looking gray
As the rats come out to play
Oh ooh
It's a 9/11 every day
It's just getting colder
In this city made of gold
Now I think that I realize
How it was in days of old
And I can ask for another sign
Another symptom of my design
It's never what you expect to find anyway
And I say ooh
Is it over yet, is it over yet
Oh ooh
'Cause I'm over it, yeah I'm over it
And the skies are looking gray
As the rats come out to play
Oh ooh
It's a 9/11 every day
'Cause when you make plans, God just laughs
Don't know if I can let go of the raft
But if you want something you gotta ask
And ask all goddamn day
And I say ooh
Is it over yet, is it over yet
Oh ooh
'Cause I'm over it, yeah I'm over it
And the skies are looking gray

Oh ooh

Vom Vorton
well I’m sorry
to keep you waiting
but you know that I give every day a rating
and I’m struggling
with my own system
I just can’t seem to find the marks out of ten
it definitely wasn’t perfect
but much better than OK
I’m going to update my system
without delay
because when you’re with me
it’s a 9/11 every day
you suggested
that I add half-marks
but most of the time I can find the right ballpark
it’s only when
we’re together
that I find it hard to figure out whether...
it’s an eight out of ten
or it’s ninety percent all the way
but it’s not black and white
the sweet spot is a shade of gray
because when you’re with me
it’s a 9/11 every day
well I’m sorry

Re: A 9/11 Every Day
PANOPLY entry, 12-bar blues, poorly talked, words roughly what I have below.
A 9/11 every day is what some say
In regards to Trump's 4 year stay
That might be a bit dramatic
No matter how much you hate the lunatic
But watchin that news is a good way to bring those blues
A 9/11 every day is what some say
About 2020 and the virus' unwelcome stay
Probably overstating a bit
Especially if you're still healthy after all of it
But readin that news is a good way to stay in those blues
A 9/11 every day is what some say

That might be a bit dramatic
No matter how much you hate the lunatic
But watchin that news is a good way to bring those blues
A 9/11 every day is what some say

A 9/11 Every Day
by Balls To Monte
Strange sensation in my heart, it isn’t love
Still, I’m leery of
The rampant numbness throughout my soul
The inner mask I wear feels more formal
I act more normal,
Each and every time I hear my doctor say
[chorus]
A 9/11 every day
Just ain’t no good for me
And all the world’s naïveté
Won’t make it go away
A 9/11 every day
Just ain’t no good for me
And all the world’s insanity
Won’t make it go away
Twice, a front-row witness to disaster
Why me, I asked her
Are my emotions just time-delayed?
How can a virus be so dangerous?
Stats mean less and less
Each and every time I hear my doctor say
[chorus]
Won’t make it go away

A 9/11 Every Day
by Lichen Throat
When September came
And the summer rains stopped,
I asked your name
As the dance floor bopped.
We listened to Toad
And to the Judybats,
Ate scoops of rocky road,
During our late-night chats.
Every day was like the first day we met:
Conversations I won’t forget,
Exchanging tapes with hand-drawn covers,
A whole lifetime left to discover.
Back in ’98,
We had our wedding day—
On September 11,
In Santa Fe.
Exactly four years
From the day we first met,
After cake and cheers,
We drove into the sunset.
I want to relive that every day,
I don’t mean birdseed and white lace;
I mean fingers entwined and the way
I feel when see at your face.
Honeymoon in BC,
Walks on the shore,
Sneaking into high tea,
Breakfast at the door.
Watching the humpbacks
In Clayoquot Sound,
Flipping our kayak
With no one around.
The years have been long,
But little has changed.
I still make up songs
That feature your name,
Each night as we read
Together in bed,
I think we’re agreed
We still feel newly wed.
I don’t think our love will ever decrease,
Nor will our delight ever cease:
Another 9/11 every day,
Until our heads are old and grey.

Pigfarmer Jr
All the music I play
All night and all day
Well, I don't know
And I can't say
All the songs I have sung
And the guitar I strum
They don't know
What I have become
I'm cold enough to observe it
Cold enough to write it down
I sing my songs as the world is burning down
All the words that I write
In love and in spite
I don't know
The wrong from the right
And the stories I tell
About heaven and hell
Well, I don't know
If I've done them well
I'm cold enough to observe it
Cold enough to write 'em down
I sing my songs as the world is burning down
I'm cold enough to observe it
Cold enough to write it down
I sing my songs as the world is burning down

A 9/11 every day
The sun comes up, the sun goes down
Three thousand lives have washed away
And all the motherfuckers say
“Protect our money with your life
And for the rest we’ll think and pray”
So wear a mask and wash your hands
Isolate and stay at home whenever you can
A 9/11 every day
The greatest country in world
Has fallen down and lost it’s way
The algorithm has betrayed
Pushing conspiracy and lies
And filling minds until they fail
So wear a mask and wash your hands
Isolate and stay at home whenever you can
There was a time you were shocked by such loss of life
And there was a time you would move mountains
A 9/11 every day
The sun comes up, the sun goes down
But surely you will rise again

Sly Eli - A 9/11 Every Day
A 9/11 everyday
Can't go outside
If I could I'd stray
I would lay me down in yonder churchyard green
And let the grass grow over me
When they take me away
It's gonna feel alright
It's gonna be OK
I won't care about these silly little dreams
Time wasted on my schemes
And it no longer feels alright
When I cannot see your light
You do the best you can
But it doesn't matter
You break your back and then
All you get is brasser
Save me
Save me
A 9/11 everyday
Can't go outside
If I could I'd stray
I would lay me down in yonder churchyard green
And let the grass grow over me
When they take me away
It's gonna feel alright
It's gonna be OK
I won't care about these silly little dreams

They teach us to hate
Yeah, America the great
Won't wear no mask
To protect my neighbor
Won't wear no fucking mask
To protect my fucking neighbor

The only thing you're free to do is D.I.E.

FUCK THY NEIGHBOR
A 9/11 every day
Watch the planes fall from the sky
A 9/11 every day
You let your own people die
"Fuck the weak.
Fuck the poor.
Fuck the minorities.
We don't need you anymore."
Betrayed by our own Republican Government
Played up like some act of heroism
Now you ignorant and willfully
Commit these same acts of terrorism
To make America great

A 9/11 Every Day by Berkeley Social Scene
Intro: ‘A ‘C | ‘A ‘C | ‘A ‘C | ‘D ‘ C x2
Verse: ‘A ‘C | ‘A ‘C | ‘A ‘C | ‘D ‘ C x2
I know what I’m talking about
So many theories abound
I’m sifting through the rubble
Looking for clues underground
Pre: ‘E | E | ‘D | ‘D
I’ve heard all the theories
I know all the facts
Verse: ‘A | ‘G ‘D x4
‘E | E
There’s a 9/11 every day
There’s secret forces at play
They’re thieves and they’re getting away
Growing richer every day
I read the news when my life
Depends on the secrets that hide
In between the columns
Acrostic messages in those lines
I’ve read all the theories
I know all the facts
There’s a 9/11 every day
There’s secret forces at play
They’re thieves and they’re getting away
Growing richer every day
Bridge: ‘B | ‘E | A | ‘D ‘C | x4

There’s fact and there’s opinion
Holding fast to your position
What you believe is your religion
If it’s shared by millions

Giraffes for Wings
Kentucky doctor born in Pakistan
First Black mayor of Manchester, Tennessee, an honest man
Transformative leader of St Augustine’s U
Critical care nurse, fierce and true
Leader of teachers and a source of relief
College student set to help children navigate grief
A senior who dreamed of making detective
Chicago 911 dispatcher and voice of perspective
They were towers
They were towers
Every one
(Like towers) they’re gone
A teen who was a good friend to all
School district transpo worker, jovial and calm
Eternal optimist and rock of his family
The longest tenured teacher at Travis World Language Academy
They were towers
They were towers
Every one
(Like towers) they’re gone
And I miss them
I miss thirteen thousand people in Michigan
As domestic terrorists fly their planes
Into churches and living rooms and supermarket chains
I miss them
And I mourn them
As half the country moves to ignore them
But they mean more to me than the economy
So look around
Look up
Squeeze in the honey
Till it spills out of the cup
It is never enough
It’s never enough
Note: verse lyrics were taken both directly and indirectly from obituaries of COVID-19 victims found here and were therefore not entirely original to me.

He wasn’t such a stupid man, didn’t have a worthless hand
Didn’t stay in school to long, not against the rights and wrongs
Heard the words his daddy said, said his prayers and off to bed
Went to work the same old way, did back in grandpa’s day...
Fell in love and had his own, told them things as they were grown
Made them feel like they’re the ones cause lucky strikes the special ones
Rules is rules but it's ok, take a break you can play.
You don’t have to think too much, after graduation day…
There’s a nine eleven every day, a nine eleven every night
All rolled up in the stupid things we say to cause a fight
There’s a nine eleven in the morning, a nine eleven in the evening
All rolled up in the stupid things we say, we think were right…
When we gonna break the chain, and will it always be the same
The virus replicates until, the host begins to break its will
It’ll never ever fix itself until it truly sees itself
And change because they know they should, and not because their daddy did…

Why you looking at the news
Searching for the truth
You won't find it there
Grim new headline on the way
A 9/11 every day
But no one seems to care
Everything you already knew
Gets reflected back at you
This is the fate that we have chosen
Hope has lost all of its power
Just stay up another hour
Forget that you are frozen
So don't refresh
Take a long deep breath
It will feel better than you expect
You could look inside
Or into someone else’s eyes
Step outside and disconnect
Just let go
You are hungry so you feed
An endless outlet for your need
So you keep scrolling
The world is perfect and it’s doomed
It’s all there to be consumed
No self controlling
Afraid to miss a sight or sound
Gotta prove you are around
And living life your best
Just hope everyone engages
Like we’re animals in cages
Hit the button, get the drug, pass the test
So don't refresh
Take a long deep breath
It will feel better than you expect
You could look inside
Or into someone else’s eyes
Step outside and disconnect

A 9/11 Every Day - Night Sky
This one may require a glossary for some: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Tamarian_language
The proud devils in Charlottesville
Swarmed the streets like a cartoon ant hill
Of workers performing for their queen
Pumped from their win in 2016
The victory dance of malice
Burning down their own palace
A gala in the streets of hell
Shaka, when the walls fell
Virtue is blind, a good german
Knows it’s all predetermined
Facts are fragile when compared
To true devotion to the tale
Better a baby in a cage
A 9/11 every day
Than to see the king exposed
Kiteo, his eyes closed
If you put your king above everything
You say hate’s in our DNA
If you fetish defiance and reject all the science
We get a 9/11 every day
Scared of dying in a plane crash
The millionaire flies first class
Had money where he needed brains
Everyone’s on the same damn plane
A virus-laden droplet
Don’t give a damn how thick’s your wallet
We’re all seeing the same buzzard
Sokath, his eyes uncovered
The paper king, toppled and displeased
Snarling and sniveling has unleashed
The idiots’ insurrection
The moron’s genuflection
To the god of white supremacy
But we voted in a new cavalry
Last scene in some comic opera
Darmok and Jelad at Tanagra

A 9/11 Every Day
by Escapegoat
Curse this evil day.
The world is a different place since September 11.
I see smoke and flickering light of fires.
Anything is okay as long at keeps us safe.
A 9/11 every day.
Let me read your dossier.
Why did they act as if they had no choice?
What must I have overlooked?
Somebody, somewhere, might have weapons of mass destruction.
Aliens have landed.
If you’re not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to fear.
A 9/11 every day.
Only a terrorist would disobey.
Implant the thoughts inside their head, so they can’t turn it off.
It’s a hard, hard life you have.
All I have is inconvenience.
The sky full of sparks and the city lights.
He went away to join the war, to walk among the dead.
32 million teeth for six thousand eyes.
Will I die at 29 years old?
342 pages let us do anything.
A 9/11 every day.
All hail the USA.
To create is to destroy.
See you next year; same time, same place.
