Write Fight!

Post by sparks »

First title is up and ready. JB says we can squat here for the moment*, so I'm setting up a redirect from the forums link at http://www.writefight.org to this thread, for the moment. That said, the database stuff is soon to be sorted out, so we may make the transition before the fight is due (you've got a bit more than a week, by the way--make use of it).

Game on. Nice title, Sparks. Ideas have already begun flowing.

Thought I'd give you something "blank" to work with. In general, don't expect titles quite as colorful as your average SF title, though I'll try to keep it mixed up plenty with titles that impose their own limitations.

I'll be entering as well, by the way--I'll try to keep the titles coming on a "tip of the tongue" kind of basis, so you lot don't feel too disadvantaged.

You're fightmaster. Do what you want.

I advertised via an all-student e-mail at my small liberal arts college - let's see what happens.

Does this mean other people do what I want, too? Because ah... oh, no, never mind.

Forum is up. Eh, thanks for the interim spot, JB. Suppose it wasn't a big issue after all.

nice going sparks.
looking foward to reading the stories.
heres a tip for the site:

you should add a print friendly page, with a big print button right up top, that will print out the submitted stories, with their authors name.
just incase theres many many submisions, and the user preffers to print them
and take them somewhere else to read.

just incase you don'e know, heres the like to make a browser print.

Code: Select all

javascript:window.print();
Question:
do the submitions have to be a fictional story, with a developed plot , characters, and evryting else. or can they just be random jibjab that some how its summed up by the title ?

That's a good idea, and one I hadn't thought of. And no, there aren't strict rules about submission style. I've read some good short stories that have few to no actual characters or dialogue.

But! I'll push you over to the new forums for future talk. :)

I've started something for this, and there's a real, if slight, possibility that I'll actually finish it in time.
Aren't you the guy that hit me in the eye?

The first fight is up. Thought I'd remind you knuckleheads who might enjoy a read but not a write. Twelve entries this week; I'm sure you can glance them over and find something you enjoy, at the very least.
