Anyway, do we agree "Oct 1 2022" for the due date for performance videos with the "video fight" being rolled into whatever the following challenge happens to be?

It seems reasonable, and is in keeping with the poll results.

Then so it is. Can one of you add a banner to the main page so people don't overlook it?

Folks will need detailed instructions for how to name and submit their video files, either in this thread of in a new/separate thread.

Also helpful are recommended specs, not just total duration but if there is any preferred aspect ratio, frame size (e.g. 1k, 2k, 4k, other, etc.), frame rate, file encoding, etc.

Personally, I like the idea of one or two 'not live' videos. Better production values usually, and they aren't that long to add to the mix.
I like a limit of 15 minutes or 3 songs for each artist. as long as the visual part is 'new' for SFL and not a repeat - or a premiere - I still have some live archive stuff from MC Frontalot that hasn't been mastered I could use as an excuse to get off my butt and finish editing that concert after 11 years.

If you need help with pre production, etc, I have some toys and tools to help out.

I liked the live 'VJ' aspect to things so you could have some interaction with people in the chat, but others might have a different opinion.

Depending on the time I might be able to help day of but could definitely contribute some ids and fun in between stuff.
I loved the things Fluffy came up with as well!

My studio setup should be functional if not complete by then, so I can probably do some presenting etc. I think the night jb and I hosted went alright.

PM me on the Discord, we'll discuss further. I'm a n00b at webcasting, but I did do college radio for 3 years...

I would recommend doing a pre-recorded show that gets broadcast as a premiere. But that just means having even more opportunity for production quality on the host segments.

I've started figuring out which songs I'll be doing and am practicing them! Happy to do some animated id bits. If anyone has an id that they'd like a silly animation for, let me know.

Reach out to some SF folks who haven't been around awhile! This has been great the past couple of years and the best way to make it great is to solicit content from all of our SongFight homies, active and dormant!

We used a Google form to have folks submit their videos and info last year. I thought that worked well. If you pm me a Gmail email I can share it with you so you can reuse it if you'd like.

For folks who didn't see it in the Discord or notice the update, the first post of this thread has been updated with submission instructions.
Please render your videos in H.264 1080p and email them to catfish.deity@gmail.com
Are you wanting folks to actually "email (the videos)" to you or to email you download links for the videos?

Just reposted this forum on the FB sites to get some bandwidth out there. Hopefully we remind people with enough time to get involved. I know it keeps slipping on my radar.

I had a lot of Nein and Ohne Ruhm songs I hadn't listened to in a long time. I liked more than I thought... I narrowed my possible setlist from 33 to 4, with room for new songs.

Now to track down a backing band. I really want to do it live, one take. Unfortunately, most of my friends work 2+ jobs, only do Island Reggae, or are "serious" musicians, and don't want to do songs about Cannibals, Zombies, and Anarchists who can't read graffiti.

If the live fights uses the title from the "next" fight, has a roughly one week schedule, and is voted on over time, what is the "LIVE" aspect? If it's not in any way live, let's not call it the LIVE fight. Let's say that the LIVE fight has been suspended this year.

Two years ago the requirement was the video had a "live" performance element to it. Some entries were closer to a live take and others less so, but it was the spirit that mattered.

It'd be great if there were live voting somehow.

Could be as simple as voting in the chat stream, although that wouldn't be anonymous. Voting via email for like five minutes after the stream. *shrug*
