Saw a message posted on the bulletin board in front of the community center
It said come on down to Jim's place for a fish fry on Friday night.
Now I never much cared for Jim but I know he's a damn fine angler
He's got smallmouth bass and rainbow trout like you wouldn't believe.

Now it's finally my weekend and I'm feeling social so I hop on my bike
Jim don't live too far it's only a 5 minute ride.
I pull up, lay my bike on a tree, seems like half the town is here
I spot Mike from the bank and my neighbor Susan and Darren from the hardware store
Carla's grabbing a Coke from the cooler and I guess I could go for one too
Rick and Brenda are playing bocce and Lando asks to join in
Out comes Jim and his leathery skin announcing the filets are ready
"There's coleslaw and hushpuppies too so come up and grab a plate at my"

Now I ate one or two plates and so did Rick and Darren
And I can't speak for everyone else, but boy, I sure am stuffed!
A few people left already, but I'm still feeling social
We linger and chat a bit til the conversation lulls
I look over at Carla and she's looking green around the gills
Mike's leaning on the carport he's broken out in cold sweat
Susan staggers a bit and collapses face down in the lawn
And my legs start feeling heavy and I'm getting tunnel vision
I'm starting to shiver a bit and I'm having trouble pronouncing words
I'm not feeling right, man, Jim, where the hell'd you go?
