My favorite concert: I finally got to see Beck after being a fan since, like, 1999. He was going to play a solo, acoustic show, but ended up picking up a pedal steel player the night before after hearing the guy from some SXSW show. Which is cool. Beck was super funny and charming and played a lot of wonderful songs I didn't expect to hear. But thinking again I probably need to give it to Pavement, who I saw tape an Austin City Limits episode and then I saw their concert the next night as well. Both were fantastic and transcendent.
Favorite albums of the year: Labyrinthitis by Destroyer, The Loneliest Time by Carly Rae Jepsen, Blue Rev by Alvvays, Lucifer on the Sofa by Spoon, Wet Leg s/t, and Cool It Down by Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The Boy Named If by Elvis Costello & The Imposters was pretty good as was Horsegirl's Versions of Modern Performance. Taylor's Midnights was more OK than good, and The Smile didn't impress me.

Re: Favorite Music of 2022
Just heard Wet Leg for the first time recently and I’m really enjoying it. A lot of Viagra Boys has been played in this house this year, in addition to the sort of wild ethnic and folk music I usually like. Grabbed some pretty amazing international compilation albums at a local record store I hit up about every month when I have business in the neighborhood. And of course Awesome Death, Geoff WreckdoM’s band, is in heavy rotation as I’ve recently joined the band on guitar and have 2 albums worth of material to learn. All in all I’m not an avid seeker-out of music, if left to my own devices I end up on NWOBHM and early American thrash, when I’m not listening to the music of the steppes or wherever. I sort of live with my own personal DJ though which prevents my musical stagnation. Also of note in the house Amyl and the Sniffers, Idles, Oh Sees, Lizzo, and just about anything from Napalm Records.

I’m so incredibly in love with this song The 30th by Billie Eilish. Favourite song of 2022.

Re: Favorite Music of 2022
Great year musically for me. Lots of my favorite Artists/Bands put out new albums. I also really liked that Wet Leg album, and would find myself singing Chaise Lounge all the time... heh. Ghost - Impera, Abbath - Dread Reaver, Hallas - Isle of Wisdom, Billy Howerdell - What Normal Was, Coheed & Cambria - Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind, Wormrot - Hiss, WAKE - Thought Form Descent, Imperial Triumphant - Spirit of Ecstasy, Behemoth - Opvs Contra Natvram, Gojira - Our Time is Now (Single), Darkthrone - Astral Fortress, Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean - I Tried Catching You but You Fell Through Me, not to mention things I've still yet to listen to like the (2) new Jack White albums, (3?) new King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard albums! Probably missing some... phew!
