Power Plants
Jim Tyrrell
If you’re ever feeling
Like the future is unknown
Listen close my seedlings
‘Cause the world is ours to own
They think they hold dominion
Over fern and field and flower
But they don’t know the difference
Between energy and power
As the miller, so the barley
As the farmer, so the corn
As the tiller sows the garden
So another child is born
This thing that they call reason
Is their blessing and their curse
As the choice to make things better
So the way to make them worse
They show each other such resistance
Making an enemy an hour
They spend their comfortable existence
Mistaking energy for power
They pay us back in ashes
As the body, so the lime
And all we have to do
Is give them air and give them time

ellipsis
Milkmaids fairy light
Screaming earthly white
Gleaming in the night
Hemlock blossoms clear
Elder bleeding sere
Mayday drawing near
Death flower
Mandrake Filled with power
Witches blackthorn brew
Fills me through and through
Hawthorn springs anew
King Stone frozen in time
Circles closed sublime
Garlands hang and climb
Death Flower
Mandrake filled with power

Power Plants
Too soon, too far
High noon in the town square
too much, too late
midnight, I can't get there
giving up makes me sad
turning down the louder plaid
I long to touch the one I had
had had had had
too good to be true
I stood understanding
plywood soapbox
demands were too demanding
looking up what makes me mad
jotting down on legal pads
I'm left with rights I never had
had had had had
I had a moment, I had a chance
the timing is just happenstance
I've got no energy to do the dance
closing down my power plants
bringing up only a lad
letting down the dream a tad
I wrote the book I wish I had
had had had had
I had a moment, I had a chance
the timing is just happenstance
I've got no energy to do the dance
closing down my power plants

Re: Power Plants
Power Plants
Dollar Bill & the Inkpoints
I'm an intrepid jungle explorer, who
subjugates the world with imperial force
I'm on a mission for nuclear fission
Searching out alternative power source
Working vacation from the power station
On Kong Island looking for the great unknown
But it has seen much better days
Horticulture is overgrown
Tribal chant for the decadent dance
No point taking colonial stance
Herbivorous features, what can life teach us
About bioluminescent power plants?
Voyage Extra-ordinaire, I'm looking to learn
What I find would give Jules Verne a turn
There are Venus fly-traps the size of Venus.
What can we blame their enormous size on?
coal fired power stations pollute the horizon
Tipitiwitchets twitch and lick their lips
Their net capacity can hold the whole of me
- I Should have stuck with Hydroelectric
Tribal chant for the decadent dance
No point taking colonial stance
Carnivorous creatures what can you teach us
About getting eaten by power plants?

Power Plants
-thehipcola-
so we're running out of light
the future's not so bright
we were hoping for paradise
or some other star in the night
you'd think we never saw this coming
like some thief in the night
but the thief was always bright in the light
and i'm just crying cuz you're falling out of sight
and i'm just crying cuz you're falling out of sight.
so now we're
stalled out as we hide in fright
disregard this waning light
we should dream of paradise
don't look over here - it'll be alright....
you'd think we never saw this coming
like some thief in the night
but the thief was always so bright in the light
and I'm just crying cuz you're falling out of sight
and I'm just crying cuz you're falling out sight
the Winds whisper secret electricity
Wattage keeps the world aglow
but power plants the seeds of irresponsibility
cuz extraction sells us all down
the dying river in this modern symphony
the score is not a generator of pride
it's sleight of hand no need to show you sympathy
impenetrable walls that encircle - the power plants
impenetrable walls that encircle - the power plants

Re: Power Plants
Power Plants
She slithers, she’s as tough as leather
Supple, falling like a feather
A waffler, she’ll take you or she’ll leave you
Forsake you or deceive you
Morning, she’ll sleep in any venue
Evening naps are on the menu
Sometimes, she’s like a silent watcher
Pupils like flying saucers
Don’t wanna move from her spot in the sun
She didn’t there get by happenstance
There’s only one thing I know you can count on
That’ll make her get up and dance
She urges me to go the cupboard
Right now for her power plants
Then she takes off like a bullet
What’s this stuff?
What’s it for?
Don’t see how I can trust the floor
Watch me tumble
Can’t pretend
I would ever want this shit to end
See my tail
Watch my claws
When I’m like this I don’t heed no laws
I’m on fire
Flames are high
Promise me you got a good supply of
Catnip!!!

Power Plants
Stood on the precipice
at the edge of the world
armageddon and genesis
of a boy and a girl
She had her reasons
he had his brand
she couldn't see him
he stepped down from his stand
Old enough to feel the damage
not young enough to do the dance
he needs to eat more greens and cabbage
or any other power plants
he set his tripwires
she's alone and aloof
but when it backfires
it's a hell of a goof
a beaten man
and a woman scorned
thinking Rodin
cut bait and mourn
strong enough to cross the finish
a weakling in this circumstance
he needs to eat more kale and spinach
or any other power plants
All that nature left behind
That is all the health I find
If you knew a better way
I’d hear what you had to say (ok?)
he's old enough to feel the damage
not young enough to do the dance`
