I am interested in SongFight
Hi, I am considering doing SongFight. I know where I’d currently like to improve (i.e. intro’s, outro’s, and probably some other areas, that I’m sure will be pointed out). I’m also a big guy and realize that my vocals are breathy. On what level do I need to make those vocals shine, in order to be competitive here? It’s not really a focus for me outside of SongFight, so I imagine, it’s possible that overly breathy vocals could potentially hurt my chances!? But, I’d appreciate some feedback. Thank you.

Re: I am interested in SongFight
Hi! Welcome to Song Fight! The fights are open to people of all skill levels in all areas. Winning is in some ways kinda not the point, and it can be tough to figure out what makes a song a winner. Pro-level performance or production are definitely not required. I think there's a lot more openness to and interest in folks who don't necessarily sound like everybody on the radio, who have more of their own thing going on. So I guess I'd say, be yourself, and if you put up a song and ask folks for feedback about it you'll probably get some (hopefully nice) feedback and pointers.

And don't worry too much about improving. Some of us have been here for over 20 years and still suck.

If I can stop sucking in the next six months or so, I won’t be one of those guys!

Hello and welcome! All tastes are featured here. Stuff that sounds like you’d hear it on the radio tends to win but not always. I personally like to push boundaries and have never been discouraged from it though it’s not always as amusing to the others as it is to me. I’m part of a long-running project with a transgressive history and very happy to be here. Feel free to bring your best or even your not-the-best and you will find plenty of helpful feedback, especially if you want tips on recording and mixing. If you do reviews and get involved on the boards you can ask for specific feedback too.
