The Numbers Don't Lie
by Moss Palace

The train is late again
You never showed up
Yet I still pretend
You’re going to change your ways
Relieve all my doubts
One of these days

I been waiting for a sign
Or a reason that could change my mind

Been looking for the truth
But I must be blind
I keep on counting on you
But the numbers don't lie
You've broken my trust
So many times
We just don't add up
No the numbers don't lie

One hundred second chances
Still you let me down
And I’m tired of your advances
I’m done with with empty vows
Don’t say you’re sorry
You never mean it anyhow

I been waiting for a sign
Or a reason that could change my mind

Looking for the truth
But I must be blind
I keep on counting on you
But the numbers don't lie
You've broken my trust
So many times
We just don't add up
No the numbers don't lie

glennny- Question Mark

Verse One
So sorry I’m late again
Please don’t blow it out of proportion
You don’t need an apology
Or the tale of my misfortune
What have you been thinking about
Your furrowed brow is full of doubt

Pre-Chorus One
You don’t want to be with me
But you don’t want to be the bad guy
You’re digging into your dignity
I’m numb to all your number’s insights

Chorus
The sign is: I keep showing up
But my best is never good enough
My heart might start to fall apart
The oui of we is a question mark

Aside
When I was giddy on your graph
I could make you laugh

Verse Two
Your data gives you the nerve
You’re righteous with justifications
It doesn’t matter who takes the serve
I’m saddled with new stipulations
What are we now talking about
You can’t just shut our feelings down

Pre-Chorus Two
Chorus Two

Bridge
You don’t want to wait too long
I was Mr. Right
But not tonight
Don’t start this fight
You delight
In pointing out when I’m wrong

Pre-Chorus Three
you don’t want to be with me
(I need another chance)
But you don’t want to be the bad guy
(for our relation)
You’re digging into your dignity
(let’s do another dance)
I’m numb to all your number’s insights
(with this new equation)

Chorus Three
Phillipso, Older Brothers, Semolina Pilchards, Zipline , Thank Glennny for the Frisbee, The Odoriferous Valley, The Worldly Self Assurance, Berkeley Social Scene, Very Gentle Knives, Daddy Bop Swing Set, GUNS, The Kraken Lives, Cavedwellers

An answer to "Sink or Swim" by Stacking Theory
Spoiler
The changing of seasons is a solid metaphor for beginnings and endings, and that's what this song is about.
I'm an old man, my kids are growing up and are getting close to the exit ramp of my supervision highwa, and I'm already missing them.
When I started being a parent, I had no idea what was coming for me - I doubt anyone can be prepared for that shift, you just have to jump in and start.
When these kids head out on their own they're going to learn a lot about themselves and the world around them very quickly - I can't prepare them for everything, and anyways, I wouldn't want to take that away from them.

So that's it. That's the song. I hope you like it.

Stacking Theory - Sink or Swim

sun rise
early in the day before our eyes
we waited long
waited all our lives ’til now
to find
the seed that grew a mind
sunflower arrives and shines

we go down to the water
jump right in
hold this son and daughter
sink or swim

pink skies
setting sun that falls before we rise
time is short
were short on time and trying
to hold on
to leaves already gone
our lonely limbs will sing a sad sad song

they ran down to the water
jump right in
farewell you son and daughter
gonna sink or swim
yeah they ran down to the water
jump right in
farewell you son and daughter
gonna sink or swim
Night falls
I’ve still so many questions
To every one of your answers
After all the changing seasons

Spring to Summer, Fall to Winter
The bloom is gone

On this tree I carved a question mark
One that brings me back around
You never knew if I would sink or swim
But I’m planted on firm ground
Next to you

When the car door slammed my arm
When I wanted a 6 million dollar man
When I bawled my eyes out over...
What was her name?

Piercing blue skies
all the sighs and eyerolls can’t hide
That time is short
I know better than to say the words I want to

But still we sing
And the song goes just like

On this tree I carved a question mark
One that brings me back around
You never knew if I would sink or swim
But I’m planted on firm ground
Next to you

When I ran away from home
When you found me in San Diego
When you taught me how to sing
When you taught me how to sing

Question Mark
by Moss Palace

This song is an answer to Stacking Theory's "Blind Spot", details in spoiler tag.
Spoiler
gizo wrote:This is a song about loss, aging, and insecurity. It’s all pretty straight forward. ... There are a few glorious hours where we’re all awake at the same time, but mostly we live in each others’ blind spots.
Lyric snippet:
gizo wrote:"i don’t know
whatever it is
i’ve done
that makes you love me"
Our song is about looking at those kinds of relationships from another perspective, one where those people in our lives see us completely and always, no blind spots. There's no question why they love us.
Sometimes a few years
May pass between us
The times we’re together
Make up for the distance

Sometimes I forget that
There’s someone like you
Somebody who knows me
And all I’ve been through

There’s no question mark
When it comes to how I feel
Nobody’s in the dark
The connection is real

We’ve all had our issues
And hard times to weather
I’d rather have problems
When we are together

Life’s full of surprises
And some leave you stranded
When you meet a soul mate
Don’t take it for granted

There’s no question mark
When it comes to how I feel
Nobody’s in the dark
The connection is real

We all need a best friend
Someone we can turn to
I know that you’ll be there
Whenever I need you

Sometimes I forget that
There’s someone like you
Somebody who knows me
And all I’ve been through

There’s no question mark
When it comes to how I feel
Nobody’s in the dark
The connection is real

There’s no question mark
When it comes to how I feel
Nobody’s in the dark
The connection is real

Answering Crown Shy- Sink or Swim
Spoiler
Crown Shy
(shadow)

Turning towards the heavy footfalls of a future coming down my lane
And the endless tyranny of how days pile up on days
Winter turns to spring and summer turns to fall
I see ambition on the caller ID, but I can't pick up that call

And I don't want to sink or swim
I just want to get out of the water
Hold my breath and I think that I
Could skim the surface like a dragonfly
Or float like dandelion fluff into the empty sky
I don't want to sink or swim

The Joneses are breathing down my neck with my mother in hot pursuit
And my brother's off somewhere ahead in his Allbirds and three-piece suit
I feel the claws come down and tear through anxious skin
It stings just enough to get me sprinting for a while again

And I don't want to sink or swim
I just want to get out of the water
Hold my breath and I think that I
Could skim the surface like a dragonfly
Or float like dandelion fluff into the empty sky
I don't want to sink or swim

And I don't want to sink or swim
I just want to get out of the water
Hold my breath and I think that I
Could skim the surface like a dragonfly
Or float like dandelion fluff into the empty sky
And I don't want to sink or swim
I just want to get out of the water
Hold my breath and I think that I
Could skim the surface like a dragonfly
Or float like dandelion fluff into the empty sky
I don't want to sink or swim
Cavedwellers-Question Mark

Verse One
Your little heart is so protected
You’re safe and all alone
And you won’t be dejected
It seems so impossible to step in the unknown
You’ve got all of your colors
But you can’t find the tone
You’re the audience
when you should be starring in your own TV show

Pre-Chorus
you don’t like the rat race
And you’re head is full of dread
You don’t want to work for it
You’d rather anything else instead

Chorus
You got hooked by the crook
Of a question mark
As you took another shot in the dark
The dandelion fluff
Is gonna make me sneeze
As I pay for this cool summer breeze

Verse Two
You’ll never feel rewarded
If you don’t endure the struggle
The lake of your anxiety
Evaporates to puddles
You’re panicked by the footfalls
Of the ones you care about
You’re probably feeling empty
When you’re only full of doubt

Pre-Chorus
you don’t like the rat race
And you’re head is full of dread
You don’t want to work for it
You’d rather anything else instead

Chorus
You got hooked by the crook
Of a question mark
As you took another shot in the dark
The dandelion fluff
Is gonna make me sneeze
As I pay for this cool summer breeze

Bridge
I see myself in you
You do what I would do
Before I knew the score
I thought I knew so much more
Too shy to take your crown
You would renounce your throne
When you and I could rule
Together, together

Answering Max Bombast - Partly Fiction

Verse 1
Dear sir, don’t get me wrong, you’ve got a case
Sometimes the modern world feels like it’s a cold and unjust place

Dear sir, all of us are bleeding just the same
I know it feels more satisfying to have someone else to blame

Verse 2
Dear sir, have you considered that it could be
Maybe you don’t understand because you’re too zoomed in to see

Or, dear sir, maybe you’re stuck in your own prison
Every question mark you come across is a chance for pessimism

But dear sir, let me remind you of your options
You can amplify the problem, or be part of the solution

Verse 3
Dear sir, stories shape the way we live
Some of them help, some of them hurt, some take, and some give

Dear sir, you think you’re wise and so objective
You’re just a willing victim of cynical perspective

Outro
Dear sir, it’s easy to tear the whole thing down
But someday you’ll be forgotten, and your windmills will be around

So dear sir, you’re certainly allowed your own opinion
But mark my words, the blade of time is going to turn you into fiction
