Hello SpinTunas!

Mike from The Dutch Widows is compiling a SpinTunes Christmas album and would love to include submissions from anyone that wants to contribute.

The rules are simple:

Submit your song to Mike (thedutchwidows@gmail.com) by 1st December 2024.

Interpretation of ‘Christmas song’ to be as tight or loose as you choose to make it – religious, non-religious, equivalent holidays in other faiths, sincere, insincere, heartfelt, flippant, jingle bells, no jingle bells. It’s up to you.

This is not a competition - there is no judging.

Use the same approach to submitting as you would for SpinTunes (see sections on ‘Submitting by email’ and ‘Alternate file sharing options’ here https://spintunescontest.blogspot.com/2 ... rules.html), other than you should send them to Mike not me!

Include the usual information if you want it included on the album, i.e. lyrics, (short) bio info, details of collaborators or contributors.
Ideally the songs should be original (and subject to the same conditions as SpinTunes) or in the public domain.

You can check whether a song is in the public domain or not here https://www.pdinfo.com/public-domain-music-list.php and this article has some examples https://blog.discmakers.com/2020/11/lic ... day-songs/.

If you wish to record songs subject to copyright, you will need to clear them first and provide evidence of that clearance. Inclusion on the album will be subject to approval (essentially by Mike and me) and shouldn’t be assumed. Check with Mike first is the best advice.

That’s it! Happy creating!

Mike’s also looking for a volunteer to make cover art – if you would like to do that, drop him an email.

Any questions - Mike's email is the place to start!

Micah
