Performing Live from VRChat

Hey y’all, I don’t think I posted about it here before but for the last couple of years I’ve been pretty active as a performer in VRChat, and I mostly perform Song Fight! stuff. You can see an archive of my previous shows and my upcoming concert schedule over at https://sockpuppet.band/live/, and sometimes I stream the shows as they take place as well.

I also have a detailed explanation of how it all works. The short version is that I’m singing and playing guitar live (and basically puppeteering my avatar) although I use a backing track for the other instruments.

Anyway, VRChat is a pretty great venue for performing, and you don’t even need a VR headset to participate (most VR performers are actually on desktop, I’m just being Extra when I’m doing it all in-headset). It’s been great for my overall visibility and I have actual fans now, which is incredible to think about.

since we're friends on steam, sometimes i see that you are doing vrchat and didn't realize you were using it for live performances. that's cool.

Oh right I should also mention that around the time I started performing in VRChat I ran into Ian Martyn, who performs as Bucker Fuskyote. So there's at least two of us doing this!
