Anyone work with EDI files and use good tools (desktop or server) that facilitate field highlighting or conversion to XML?
I have to parse flat files that have many record types, each with a unique prefix and unique field definitions (in other words each record doesn't have the same format). In this case it's the Common Works Registration format.
I'd appreciate any insights you may have.

Hey Roy, one of my main responsibilities at work is maintaining an EDI gateway for a Telco Company communicating with Bellsouth & Verizon.
Not familiar with Common Works Registration format, but if you’re looking for robust EDI, XML mapping software we use softshare Delta 4.0 . pretty much maps EDI(X12), XML, flat files, and database tables , to each other.
It comes with a OLE COM object interface as well.
works great for us.
