I would be totally happy with a washer that only worked on "cold".
(It's ASL for "cow".)

yeah, i just go with the warm setting because it's in the middle. the middle setting is the safe one in my mind. i actually know nothing about laundry, though i manage to get it done without a hitch every time.

I have exactly 27 pairs of socks. Each pair is marked on its inside hems with colored sharpie so that I can sort them--since all the socks are mostly identical. 9 pairs are makred with circles, 9 with crosses, and 9 with checks. 3 are in yellow, 3 in red, 3 in orange, 3 in teal, 3 in black, 3 in purple, 3 in blue, 3 in green, 3 in navy.

Once I began marking my socks, I never lost a sock doing laundry again. I suspect that they can't make it past the Mexican border if they have suspicious tattoos on their necks.
