On the other board, FutureBoy posted about a nice-looking hostel:
http://www.85180ad.com/bb/viewtopic.php?p=191#191

Here's the hostel's site: http://theprescotthotel.com

If we can get 6 people together, we can have a private room and we'd each pay $25/night. This would be awesome.

Here's the distance between the City Club and the Hostel:
http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=42.36869 ... etts&hl=en

So far we've got FB, JBB, and me. The nights would be Thurs-Sun. (FB is a maybe on Sun).

Time for me to show no shame once again, y'all!

$65 in the Boston account right now.

Your chances of getting the Boston-fund disc for the cost of shipping and the making of the disc are getting better by the day. I will only offer this CD for 9 more days, however... The whole idea will be to get Rach and I to Boston, and as I have said? If we aren't in Boston? Your money WILL be refunded (minus shipping/cost of CD)

SO: Here we go with the main message yet again:
---------------------------------------------------------

There are two CDs for sale here. One for a good cause, the other for PERSONAL GAIN!

1. I have at least 400 more of the Burn Benefit CDs for sale. $13 a piece (shipping/handling included in the price). Those CDs can be bought here:

http://glenncase.songhole.org/notes

Those go to the notesofhope@gmail.com paypal account

2. Rachael and I would like to go to Boston. We need your help. I am making a CD of new songs that should be pretty sweet.

It's like this... If we don't go to Boston? Your money will be REFUNDED, minus shipping/cost to put the disc together.

http://glenncase.songhole.org/boston/

Those go to the ollyfan@yahoo.com paypal account.

ROCK!

Glenn, I admire your tenacity. I'm down for one of your CD's as you and Rachel MUST get to Boston.

Sadly I cannot..the same funds that escape you escape me. But there's always next year...

Come on people...get these guys hither! (or something fancy like that..)

In response to dre:

Well, booking in advance in one fell swoop will only work if everyone stays the same number of days.

while i unfortunately will not be able to attend this year (life and finances just got too much in the way...), i do hope someone has the time and/or motivation to shoot some video at this event, specifically, i'd love to see someone take the time and film one on one interviews with people that attend.

i still love the idea of doing a songfight documentary at some point and this is just a great opportunity, having so many different people in one place, to capture this on video. even if nothing gets immediately used, it would still be very worthwhile to have this captured. i know that if i could somehow manage to attend this year, this is what i would want to be doing instead of performing, so hopefully maybe tonetripper or someone else can step up and shoot this.

i also think it might be cool to have a basic set list of questions for the interviewees (the basics...where are you from, how did you find songfight, what have you gotten out of it...) that everyone answers. at some point, this interview footage, in addition to any other footage shot in boston (footage of actual show, practice, getting drunk, whatever..) would be invaluable to the long term goal of creating a songfight documentary.

thanks. sorry i can't make it. maybe next year.

That is generally considered to be one of the main attractions of the New England area.

Current update: will have a full schedule of who is playing, and when, within the next few days. Monday at the latest. Way back in June I bought a bunch of cool things on e-bay, specifically for the show. Yesterday I finally had to give up hope and file a paypal complaint against the guy who ruined my secret plans by not bothering to send the stuff I bought from him. Oh well, I hope I get that hundred bucks back, and there is always next year!

Greeting from Wyoming!

I'm working my way out to Boston and talking up Songfight the whole way. I'm sunburned and hung over, and seeing some of the most amazing parts of America. I'm sorry I'm not around to help more.

See you there!

Be well,
Ken

Dude, I'm working the camera angle, but I'm running into a snag being that I can't borrow my buddies to shoot it. Also I'm going Saturday, so I'll miss Friday. I am going to bring some wireless mics so that we could maybe set aside some time for these interviews.

However this being said I still am all about this documentary idea. I'm thinking this year I'll get the lay of the land and next year if they let me I'll host SF in Toronto here if the census is there. There is a great island off of Toronto that would be perfect IMO to host this bad boy and everyone could camp there. We could have some awesome parties. Play disc golf. Swim and make music. Songfight Toronto might be a very cool idea to house the documentary idea. I can get camera and technicians to help out. It might be better that way. Still working on it.

Don't worry about the camera- we've got that covered. Mr. The Jazz has arranged to borrow a camera and accessories from a local community access TV station for the weekend. We'll tape everything we can and maybe some of it will be useful for documentariation.

The cheapest I could find tapes is a 10-pack on Amazon for $24 (1 hour each on SP). I'll get two so we'll have plenty of extra tape. Although it just occurred to me to wonder how long the camera batteries last... I'll ask the people at SCAT, they'll probably give me extras if I need them.

Anything else I need to know about taping requirements? I'm assuming we've got plenty of microphones, so I didn't reserve any from SCAT. Gert, you mentioned some wireless mics - what type are they? Lavalier or shotgun would be nice.
Let cake eat them.

Certainly the camera has an AC adapter and there'll be a spare outlet among the dozen surge protectors on the stage...

This is a good time to remind people to bring an extension cord, though, maybe.
