Windows Vista
I think this may be the first ever Songfight board post coming from the new version of Windows. If it reads all gardbled or in Chinese or both, then they've still got some work to do.
Testament to Songfight: This is also the very first thing I tried out when very first logging into Vista. If I can't post on the SF boards, then the operating system is of no use to me.

Goodness no! Be glad. That for real computer geeks. I just have to know all about it so I can talk reasonably intelligently about it.

Don't worry, it's not shipping for a long time still, and Server is going to be even longer. And believe me, when it does get close to shipping, everyone and his horse is going to know about it. Big marketing push coming.
Oh yeah, and it's cool.

I'm OK. But the first thing I thought when I read "Screenshots?" was "Hmmm... how much am I allowed to share here?" That super site link has some good shots.Dan-O from Five-O wrote:I think Jim would, but I envision the MS Police suddenly busting into Jim's cubicle the moment you posted that Puce. My favorite things about it are that I no longer have to keep myself organized, Vista does that for me, and I like how you can open a whole bunch of pages in IE (tab-based) and then save that whole collection of pages as a single favorite. I can open the Song Fight home page, the Archive page, the SF Boards, and Somesongs, then save all that as a single "Song Fight" favorite. Neato.

I can't wait to buy Windows Vista so I can get browser innovations Mozilla developed ages ago. For free.Jim of Seattle wrote:I like how you can open a whole bunch of pages in IE (tab-based) and then save that whole collection of pages as a single favorite. EDIT: Although I am painfully hip I am not trying to add to the Microsoft bashing. I also love all those features, and I'm very glad that there is a browser out there that does this already. That happens to be free. You can read into it all you like, but everything I said there is true. Well, except for that whole thing about me planning to buy Vista. That should have read "I can't wait to steal Windows Vista". And I don't just mean pirate it. No, I actually plan to go to Best Buy the day it comes out, snatch it like it were a baby and make a break for the fire exit, plowing my way through the store's employees quarterback-style.

Yeah, yeah, typical reaction.. Mozilla isn't also building a whole friggin' OPERATING SYSTEM at the same time, though.Puce wrote:I can't wait to buy Windows Vista so I can get browser innovations Mozilla developed ages ago. Servers are irrelevant. By "most everybody else in the world" I'm talking about end users. Vista, IE and the like are client products that can't be compared to Linux.
Anyway, let's get off this. MS bashing is so hip, and it looks like that is where this thread is heading, but the basic truth is that the people who works here are just a regular folks with feelings and kids and all that stuff who go to work every day trying their best. The whole knee-jerk "Microsoft sucks" wheeze is pointless, and it's pointless to go there. Not saying that you were, but, well, these kinds of conversations usually do.

I hate Linux too. Always carrying around that stupid security blanket, leaning on Schroeder's tiny baby grand piano spewing out BS advice and the like. And he has like what, 7 hairs on his oddly shaped head? And they're all combed back like Mafia style. He's like the Godfather of the Peanuts gang.

And Jim I have been one of the rare silent fans of the fact that MSFT has done a huge amount to drive standardization where all the standards committees in the indiusrty have failed and gone on to inpsire more inovation in others that MSFT have then canibalized and productized making it available for the masses. There are always choices erupt from those who object and more innovation is inspired, then commercialized.
