Or what! Perhaps if you are lucky you will get a daily update of our exact location via GPS!

In other news I have a first pass of a schedule up in the announcements, so go read it if you are coming and make sure you're on it and stuff. If you aren't coming, don't bother with the schedule; it's enough to just sit at home and wait for our next lat/long fix report.

Sober, are you staying at the Holiday Inn in Somerville? Because the subway could get you from Logan to Sullivan Square (just down the road from the hotel) for $1.25. If you can't get a ride I'd be happy to help you schlep your gear.

Yes please! That would be worth staying up for... or getting up for. Whatever.

Yeah, just take the silver line (which is a bus) from the airport to South Station on the red line (which is a subway), then take the red line one stop inbound to Downtown Crossing, then take the orange line outbound to Sullivan Square. $1.25 the whole way, but make sure you have exact change.

It would probably be better to avoid the Silver Line. I've heard bad things about it. There's a free shuttle bus from the terminals to the Airport station (Blue Line), that's one less transfer to deal with. Should be faster and easier. PM me the arrival time and gate if you want a welcoming committee/pack horse.

Nope, I used the silver line not 2 months ago when I flew in from Boulder, and it was fast and easy.

well, this wouldn't be too hard if there are three things available to us.

#1. the venue would have to have DSL/T1/T3/cable modem with somewhat static IP and some open ports available.

#2. laptop perferably but any computer with the ability to use that connection and willing to install streaming software such as windows media encoder. This computer would have to have be capture device ready. I could even bring a cheap capture card to install if it had a regular pci slot. (wintv card)

#3 One more server on a T1/T3 connection at a co-located site in a cold room that can handle many simatanious (sp?) connections that is also willing to install windows media server for server side connections.

I know the third one sounds HARD..but anyone who works in computers may realize that this is really just a matter of 'borrowing' a machine on their network that they have administrative rights to as well as a live IP. I used to have this available to me and I imagine (as blue did too) that someone out there now has this capability. I MAY even be able to get my cousin to set up one of his servers at his hosting company to handle a stream those two nights. But for that things would have to happen really fast to get that plan into action.

I'm kicking myself in the butt for not thinking of this last year or the year before. (although I'm not sure if either location had internet access)

A long time ago, the company I worked for used to stream post game press conferences with the Tampabay Buccaneers. Their web writer would haul a computer to the location set it up...pull the audio from an audo pool into the sound card... camera hooked into the capture card... asx ready on the site made live... next thing you know, John Gruden apologizing to Tampa for another Buccaneer loss all over the internet.

I'll just be happy if you remember to bring my tuner :)

Actually I am pretty sure that the main venue doesn't have the kind of net access we'd need.

Once wireless broadband is in (many cities have designs for public wireless broadband, I believe Philli already does, and many parks in NYC have been there for years) this won't be a big deal. It will be awesome to do things like this!

I'll have my laptop with me, but I'm not sure how useful it would be for a stream though. It has serious issues with certain things.

I wonder what kind of badass antenna it would take to leech off of the Holiday Inn across the street.

I need to make one of those. Maybe I'll try to do it before this weekend.

In the unlikely event of Rachael and I showing up in Boston, is there a time where we can be squeezed in for a short acoustic set?

I am only offering the "Get Glenn and Rachael to Boston CD" for 2 more days, ladies and gentlemen! I won't be selling it after August 11th, because that is when we would need to fly out.

Right now it is looking like a lot of people will be getting their money back. But I am absolutely NOT giving up until Thursday comes and goes.

ROCK!
