Bad neighbors

Post by roymond »

Hi folks, you're all very resourceful so I thought I'd pose this question to you.

There's somebody parking their motorbike on my property so I left a sticky label on it with this note: "If you live in this building call your neighbors, otherwise move your bike or we'll call the city to move it for you. Thanks!"

Two days later the bike was still there but the note was removed. So I called the city and logged a complaint which they labeled "illegal parking". This morning the precinct called and said since it's on private property they can't tow it, that the property owners would have to pay to have it towed, but off the record we could move it to the street on Tuesday morning when there's no parking (for street cleaning) and then it'll get towed.

I don't want to wait until Tuesday. I want to put a sign on it tonight that says "Free motorbike -- take me!" like we've done in the past with strollers, high chairs and an old wet-vac noone used.

What would you do? Hoping there are some creative ideas to either help them "get it" or otherwise help to "take care of it". Obviously they're a neighbor, so vengeful retribution isn't something I want to inspire, but they know we don't want it there, and they must know it's not legal.

well...it really depends on two things:

1) What kind of bike is it?

See...if it's a hog of some sort, you gotta be careful...cause you could inadvertently bring on some unneccessary heat. Hells Angels and affiliates/or similar ilk are not too forgiving, or respectful.

2) Scope out the driver/rider.

If he looks like a pussy, wears normal clothes or what have you, then just pipe em.

Ok..maybe that's too violent for you. I like the idea of building a fence. Then they can't park on your grass. However, talking to him face to face, might at least help you understand if he's just an idiot, a powertripping biker gang member or that it's a misunderstanding (highly unlikly ...but you never know.)

Hey. It's the US...cant' you just shoot him?

what if you moved it into the street now? or are they leaving and coming back, parking on your property repeatedly?

do you have anywhere you can hide the bike?

You could try parking a scooter or a push mower right next to it, in the hopes of embarrasing them into moving it...

yeah! hide it!! That's an awesome idea... unless he's a gang member...

Cut his brake lines.

You know, all kidding aside, this would seriously piss me off. ESPECIALLY the bit about the cops saying they can't do anything about it cause it's on your private property...wtf?? Does this mean if he leaves it there, it's yours? I think you should call them back and clarify this. If it's on your property, does it mean if it suffers damage, your libel? this makes no sense. They should have to go the guy, tell him to quit being an asshole and get it off your property. Maybe if you reported it as some kind of harrassment... he's stealing the use of your land for god's sake!!!! And, if he drives away drunk, guess what? He was on your property...does that mean you are libel? fucking retarded. Ok, I'm being immflamatory, but the point remains...the cops should have gone next door and told the asshole to move it off your private property. If you stole it and parked it on your property they'd certainly come to your house to get it back...where's the difference?

Dya have a dog....or friends with dogs...
If so then allow yours and your friends dogs to use your property as a temporary toilet area and let them piss on the guys bike...Im sure he'll get the message..

If no dogs are availabe .....well hell its your property piss on his bike seat yourself.

That'll teach him .. Bastard!!

They seemed to have figured it out. Saw it in the street (parked legally) yesterday. Doubt we'll have problems, but if so, the "Free - take me" sign is ready :)
