Favorite Food for (Song)Fighting

Post by roymond »

What do you all eat when you're working on songfight material?

My favorite is Starbucks Java Chip ice cream with Newman's Own Oreos broken in it. Feeds the body, mind & soul. It's pretty much the perfect food, actually.

yeah, I rarely EAT anything before recording any parts at all.

However, I have three staple beverages while I'm recording.

water
coffee (black)
coke (beverage as I've mentioned before)

The number of times I've heard shouts of 'your foods going cold!' in the background of a vocal take forces me to record at prime soap time... sigh.

Altoids. I never like to sing without good breath, even if it's just with myself. So lots and lots of altoids. If I'm doing vocals I'll drinks lots of water. But other than that, I don't tend to eat/drink anything while working on music.

..yah, while it flies in the face of all good voice treatment advice, I drink coffee WITH cream (morning sessions), and often if in the evening, I'll have a beer or 4, or maybe a glass of wine.

that said, redo's are usually done the next day with lots of water. In fact, I have found that if I get hammered (or happered as Leaf might say...)the night before a vocal session, my voice actually gains a nifty grit I can't seem to summon no matter what I do if I've not been drinking. I lose some top end range too, but I more than gain it back in gravel and low end register...funny.

I do try not to mix while drinking...they never turn out right.

Bravo Bros. were and are powered by Spree candy. I drink coffee on the weekends when I am recording. Loyalty Day is powered by Whiskey or Champaigne most of the time.

zero.

i have tried drinking while recording a few times, and it just doesn't work.

In fact, here is probably the only recording of mine that was the product of alcohol (it is *not* worth listening to, but I paste the link out of a sick desire to embarrass myself):

http://www.kongbalong.com/mp3/crt/starf ... s_live.mp3

it's not actually live. i just put that on there as an excuse for it' badness.

I work on a vineyard, so I drink wine at a moderate rate pretty much from noon when I get off work til' late at night when I go to sleep.

I eat lots of different types of animals and have separate courses of really fresh vegetables. Then I eat cheese and go "Hooooooonnn hoooon! I hate ze Americains!"

Most of that is true.

My collaborator eats eggs, apparently at every hour of the day. I imagine he will die soon, not from cholesterol, but from being full of egg. Meggosogotai worries me because, as you might have noticed, I call myself Egg. I think he's preparing to eat me when I eventually return to New Orleans.

My singer friend drinks hot tea to loosen his vocal chords or something. I get boozey and then tape myself with a minirecorder and mess things up with Cakewalk and Cubase.

I have eaten cake while using cakewalk on more than one occasion.
glug glug glug egg makes wine. You can make wine too.
