Bob Moog's prognosis: not good

Post by fluffy »

Bob Moog has an inoperable brain tumor in his motor cortex. http://www.caringbridge.com/cb/inputSit ... me=bobmoog

This is Bob Moog, creator of the Moog musical instrument company, which makes really cool analog synths used by lots of people, including such musical luminaries as You Were Spiraling, Weezer, and Octothorpe (in the pre-theft days).

So, yeah, they're not sure how long he's going to last but his prognosis isn't good in any case.

It's just Spiraling, fyi. Has been for a few years now. (Not that I even listen to them.)

Sad news, too.

I know they changed their name, but I think the new name is dumb.

Yeah, he took a sudden huge turn for the worse yesterday. :/

About a year ago there was a documentary on him being distributed via th eindependent film distribution channels. I never got a chance to see it though, since I didn't know about it until after it had left New York. I wonder if it's possible to get a copy on DVD or similar yet.

There is a public memorial scheduled for Wednesday in Asheville, but that's all I know. It's very sad that he has passed, but just last year he released the Etherwave Pro, which, as I undertsand, was the result of decades of developement and fine tuning, so it is nice to know he was working and creating right up to the end. We'll miss you Bob, and continue to be richer for the gifts you gave us.
