Well I got a few, but my tape cut off at (I think) Future Boy. I wasn't rushing to digitize them b/c I previewed a couple on the headphones and they sounded horrible, so I was hoping someone else would post something (Adjuster? Jazz?). But I'll digitize now, now that I'm back from Canada and I have a little time. I'll post and hopefully the FM will be lenient if someone's late. Okay, to work.roymond wrote:I was hoping they would magically appear, myself...c hack wrote:Anyone get a recording of my "I Know My Rights" so I can enter the fight this week?

this really sucks. I thought I had the levels low enough, but everything's clipping. All the loud stuff is worthless, but maybe some acoustic stuff will be alright.
Well, the live fight is worthless. Maybe the zeitgeist set will be alright.
update: Fluffy sounds good, but it clips a hair when he gets too loud.
update2: yeah, this really sucks. Both Jeff and Jim Tyrell clip so much it's not even worth it. But I can tell that they'd sound great if I'd just set the levels right. SOOOO frustrating.

You will have to suffer through my studio version then. I'm hoping the Jazz got decent audio on the video, though, because the band made the muse sing!Hoblit wrote:anyone else?I was really looking forward to Roymond's 'I know my rights' All I have is the memory of it...and it's alcoholically blurred somewhat. I really rather enjoyed what I remembered of it.

I posted Frankie's set. It can be found here:

DO NOT MISS "Thunder Storm" and "Bite-Size." Great songs.
Let me know what you guys think, and if it's worth ripping any more. The recording quality doesn't get much better than this, and at times (like a couple of Jim's songs) it's unlistenable.

You got it. Yours actually didn't come out too bad, except for "Dizzy Spells." I also put up Lunkhead and Erin's "Voilet Wants it Her Way."jimtyrrell wrote:I'd be interested to hear anything you've got. These FBF tracks are at least listenable, and they bring back good memories. Nice set Frankie!
Thanks for putting in the work, C Hack.

Downloading the FBF set. Cool.
Any sightings - or rumors of such - of roymond performances that hot Friday night would be appreciated.

My recorder (a tascam da-p1) has a limiter switch, which was switched on. The input was set to 2, and the levels were peaking at around -6, so I thought I was safe. Live and learn.jb wrote:always use a compressor in a live recording of amplified music
Also, never use computer backup DAT tapes instead of audio ones. The tape is thinner and breaks/gets eaten easily.

So hey all. I'm in Miami right now working on a doc on the chupacabra and won't be back til the sixth of September. I'm sorry all for not posting the Saturday show, but I ran out of time in the midst of getting geared up for work. I promise I'll post it when I get back from work. I know for a fact that the show should sound great off the mini dv camera that the jazz brought and the stereo mic that I had set up in front of the stage. So be patient as it will be posted. As soon as I get back. I've already rendered into my recording computer, so all I have to do is burn it to disc and upload it to the tonetripper site which will have a major renovation when I get back. I'll set it up.
Also I must apologize in advance as I seem to have lost the data off the last data disc and I recall the reason for this loss. I was running out of juice in the MD battery and had it plugged into a power bar at the front of the stage and when the group photo went down for the live fight someone didn't see the black cable (and why would they) and the thing went for a tumble to the floor. Anyway I got back and the third disc didn't have shit on it. I was totally bummed. So JB's set is lost and the live fight. So sorry about that, but I know for a fact that the recording should be great off the camera. Whenever the Jazz has time or money to render it we'll all be better off.
The other two sound great. I listened to everyone's stuff and it all sounds good in the MD, so rest assured there is no clipping and the levels are good. I'm excited to see the response of you all about it. Bear with me as I'm working guy and don't have a lap top while I'm roaming around. Will get one when I get back as I could use one while I'm working for recording sound in the field. Also so I can geek out with all you fellow SFers. Take it easy all. And Starf sorry buddy I really tried to get it done and just simply ran out of time prepping. Keep the music rocking all and it was an awesome pleasure to see many of you perform and just generally hang out and eat burgers wth you all.
Peace.
Pablo
