If you're looking for a good video/speech on disparity of popular forums, plus a bunch of other nonsense, check out
Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka's speech (of SomethingAwful fame), which I had the pleasure of attending.
He starts looking at forums around the 38-minute mark, but the powerpoint transitions are top-notch throughout. It's a huge file, so you'll probably want to save a local copy before you get too involved.
