Complaint
I object to Fluffy having a false registration date and inflated post count. Also, I could not find Octothorpia on any map.

I'd just like to whine and mutter about an endless list of things I find generally unacceptable. However, I find myself in a relatively high state of spirit this day, so any specific complaints evade me at this moment.

My only songfight complaint is that due to finding, buying and now moving into a new home, I don't have:
a) time to fight
b) titles that inspire me to fight (sorry guys...but it comes around... I know that...)
c) a studio set up to adequately fight
d) time to fight.
yeah. That's about that.
As for the opening topic... meh. And I rarely use "meh".

Surely that depends on the font?fluffy wrote:a capital 'F' isn't as aesthetically pleasing.
I've seen lots of very attractive f's and F's.

Screw the visual flow, the capital F is the very best letter in the English language. So said I when I was like, ten or something.

I doubt the designers would agree. Or are you talking screen fonts?fluffy wrote:In most fonts a capital F interrupts the visual flow of the rest of the word.

fluffy vs. Fluffy
I am not sure that many font designers wouldn't agree, Roymond, if you consider that fluffy is talking about the specific case of his name, and the combinations of letters found within.
In fact, the fl combination is so beloved by font designers that it is often celebrated in many fonts with its own ligature. Not so with Fl. Actually, it is an unfortunate combination that tends to isolate itself as a square at the beginning of the word.
Additionally, there are the three 'f's. There is a certain logic to having them all the same. It makes for a nice flow.
Finally, which looks more fluffy to you: fluffy or Fluffy? Again, that hard edge on the F is a point against fluffiness.

On the other hand, I totally get not capitalizing one's name. Obviously.

Re: fluffy vs. Fluffy
Yes, perhaps, but he generalized "most fonts". There is a particular challenge in the "fl" combination, agreed, and "fluffy" is as it should be. And yes, I have nothing else to stand on on this point, so I will continue, nonetheless...Spud wrote:I am not sure that many font designers wouldn't agree, Roymond, if you consider that fluffy is talking about the specific case of his name, and the combinations of letters found within.
There's a problem here and the Fi and Fl ligatures make this challenge clear enough, but there are soft uppercase Fs, such as Handel Gothic that work much like the typical lowercase, without the cross hanging out the left side. Also, script and engraved styles where the whole point is the leading character, as found in embossed title pages in a bible...perhaps something dear to fluffy's heart

well.....since this thread has become so popular, I suppose it is time for me, the originator, to jump back in.
fluffy, since you are so observant of the way people type your name, I would like to complain that you frequently write Frankie Bigface when referring to me. my name has always been three separate words, thank you.
that is all.
