Chris Whitley, one of my favorite songwriters and a huge influence on my music just passed away from lung cancer. His music never seemed to get the sort of recognition it deserved, but he always stayed true to his vision, unconcerned over it's commercial value but his stuff was always cutting edge and original.
his "living with the law" album remains one of my all time favorite recordings. i highly encourage it to anyone unfamiliar with it.
i am very sad by this news.
