Other Places I Have Lived

Other Places I Have Lived by Transatlantic Fight Club

Words by Niveous, Music by j$
Lead guitar by Andy Balham
(Features a sample from 'Glengary Glenn Ross')

Back then it was better than home
A niche in the world I could call my own
Broke bread with all of my friends
Who knew that there'd be such a bitter end
There was lying, screaming, love almost lost
Fighting and cursing, finally a holocaust

Now it's like a ghost town
Staring at the places where I used to live
Now it's like a ghost town ...

The bomb that fell left a hole
Of the place where I used to rest my soul
On days which I felt alone
And felt like I had nowhere left to go
Then came the hurt and the misleading
The pain, the sorrow and deceiving

Now it's like a ghost town
Staring at the places where I used to live
Now it's like a ghost town...

I feel regrets and stinging wrath
While looking at old photographs
I didn't know that path
Had no way of turning back

Now it's like a ghost town
Staring at the places where I used to live
Now it's like a ghost town
Staring at the places where I used to live
Now it's like a ghost town...

Other Places I Have Lived

Why did I waste my time on you
Why did I leave it all to late
You can't think for your self
Go with your slut and procreate

Other Places I have lived dear
Lead me here to you
And then just about this time of year
I see it clearly through
I'm just another place that you've been living
Just another thing for you
You're just another boy who can't think straight
You stepped out of the nest and flew

You looked at me and I looked at you
And then you winked and me and grinned
You were in a band, you played the guitar
That's why I now just stick to drummer

Chorus

Why did I bother thinking about you
When I could've been with another boy
You used me and then went away
I hope you enjoy your time with Ms McCoy

Chorus X2
Songfighter since back in the day.

Other Places I Have Lived

By Steve Durand

I was once a beggar
In Calcutta's filthy streets
A servant in a house
Of ancient Rome

A prehistoric hunter
On the Serengeti plain
Each of these and more
Have been my home

The memories are buried deep
In my subconcious mind
The essence of the truths
That I have learned

To become enlightened
I must build upon my past
Each and every time
That I return

This life is just a station
To the final Destination
This Incarnation
One of hundreds more

I'm a man of many faces
And you can't erase the traces
Of the other places
I have lived before

To escape samsara
I will walk the eightfold path
My soul is striving
For a higher plane

I'm reaching for Nirvana
But I can't attain my goal
Without the history
Of where I've been

This life is just a station
To the final Destination
This Incarnation
One of hundreds more

I'm a man of many faces
And you can't erase the traces
Of the other places
I have lived before

Other Places I Have Lived - deshead

I'm a fool, always looking for the easy way,
and she says "you gotta hurt to live."
Well I dunno ... and where'd I be without her anyway?
Running from the path I left.
Running from my ghosts, I guess, and why?
We're all just the sum of all we've done.
  • All those other girls I can't forgive.
All those other places I have lived.
I see part of her in all of them
    and part of me,
there's that part of me that can't sit still.
"There's pain in life, you don't have the market cornered boy."
She tells me this. I'm busy tuning out.
"We've all had days when nothing good can come of anything,
but most of us don't turn and run.
Most of us don't leave our posts, and why?
We all need our scars and souveniers..."

It's fair to say we both see things a little differently.
I'm a mess, she tells me anyway:
"I can't sleep not knowing where you'll be when I get up ... "

(explanation: Pretend you are 30, which means you were 16 in 1991, when Kevin Costner was at the peak of his fame. Pretend you live in, say, Alabama, where everybody except you likes country music, and not the cool Johnny Cash kind either.)

don't wanna talk about love
ain't got no love to give
don't wanna talk about my hometown
or other places i have lived

don't wanna talk about weather
or watch the evening sky
don't wanna grow old together
don't wanna be there when you die

don't wanna walk with you
don't wanna hold your hand
don't wanna be your lover
don't wanna be your man

don't wanna hear no alabama
don't wanna hear no greenwood
don't wanna hear no travis
kevin costner ain't robin hood

don't wanna get a haircut
or moisterize my skin
don't wanna join your religion
don't wanna be your friend

don't wanna walk with you
don't wanna hold your hand
don't wanna be your lover
don't wanna be your man

don't wanna see a movie
don't wanna take you out
don't wanna meet your parents
don't wanna see your house

don't wanna talk about love
ain't got no love to give
don't wanna talk about my hometown
or other places i have lived

don't wanna walk with you
don't wanna hold your hand
don't wanna be your lover
don't wanna be your man

Other Places I have Lived -- Anti-m

Other places that I've lived
may have had more sun
it's true.
But I get so much more done
now that I'm without the blue
Sky above...
What isn't there to love?

Other places that I've lived
could have gone to work at eight.
Here, although I need a job
I can always sleep in late --
all day.
Work's for suckers anyway.

Well I fell in love
with your dream in green,
but every job I had
(I'm stuck with you)
used an espresso machine.

But my destiny is manifest:
(I fell for you)
All us lost souls are all blown out West.
(I'm stuck with you)

Other places that I've lived
may have had more sun it's true.
