What guitars mean to you

Links and other hanky panky that doesn't have to do with anything in particular.

Hell yeah you do!

Nice guitars are nice. There really isn't a better feeling than playing every guitar in town and deciding on the one for you. As the guy in the shop where I bought my acoustic told me, "You don't choose the guitar, the guitar chooses you."

That is a very true statement.
When I bought my workhorse accoustic, I went into the shop ready to buy a Takimine. I had tried it out the week before, and it was great. I had the cash in my pocket and was ready to buy. However, being in a guitar shop, I couldnt help but try various guitars.
An then from the back of a rack I pulled down a Tanglewood guitar. Now when I first started playing these were a really cheap and nasty maker. This guitar just looked pretty. It was much cheaper than the Takamine Id decided to buy. Then I played it.........OMG....I fell in love
It was perfect. It felt right, sounded perfect, played beautifully.
I put it down and picked up the Takimine and readied myself for the purchase, but just had to check it against this wonderful 'new' find.
It felt nasty, cheap it didnt sound half as rich...
well .... I left as the proud owner of the Tanglewood, and never looked back. Even now after nearly 10 years of abuse, travelling the country, countless gigs and busking sessions not to mention festivals. And its still as gorgeous as the day I bought it. Tho it is begining to show age now, I might retire it soon, before I really break it. HopefullyIll be able to get another the same but like new....hehe
I also had cash left over at the time, result!! Public drinking establishment here we come(me and me shiny new guit)

I guess this puts me firmly in the "Fuckers" camp. Sorry JB, you won't appreciate your Gibson unless you buy it for yourself. To the left is the case for my considerable pedal collection. Wanna see that?

Again, sorry for the Nevada sized photo. How about that fancy studio furniture though? And the carpet. Now you know how I have money for a Marshall / Gibson combo.

Man I should have taken that photo somewhere else.
