Humber College. The nicest, coolest dude. Back then, he had long hair, a goatee, and it looked like he'd pound the FUCK out of his kit... but this guy taught me something (something he doesn't probably know he taught me!!) about dynamics...

When he played, it was like he could "reach into the drum" and draw out the sound he wanted... smoothly, dynamically. He was just great at it... a few days ago, I found out that he is realizing his dream of being a sideman and professional drummer... sure, sure I feel the jealousy, but hey! I'd rather it was a cool dude like this than some asshole who only thought of themselves. So, a shout out to Adrian, who really probably doesn't remember who the fuck I am, and here's hoping his resume continues to grow!!

HE RULES.

I graduated HS in the same class with Shaun Hill, who is now the 3rd string QB for the Minnisota Vikings (American football).

this movie looks awesome.

members of kids in the way went to my high school. the drummer was in my guitar class. the drummer is the only cool guy in the band. the rest of the guys were substitute teachers at my high school. they were just dicks that played games on the teacher's computer and yelled at us for talking. they would sometimes play shows during study hall, which my friends and i would attend so we could heckle. but our heckling was done in a subtle manner so that they thought we were cheering them on. there wasn't much point to that, but it was better than sitting in study hall and drawing faces on my fingers and making them talk to each other and fight and kiss and stuff.

they're supposedly a christian band.

I did like the webpage setup with the book and all. Nice premise, but kind of hard to read.

yeah, their fans are weird. i don't get christian theology at all. i've had it explained to me a million times and i know what their logic is. i just don't understand how they believe those things without having a moment that's like "wow. i just realized i make no sense. i'm going to reevaluate my beliefs now."

yeah. i've got no problem with it. i know a lot of really cool christians. they just need to lay off the evangelizing a little. and also kill pat robertson. if they killed pat robertson, they would gain serious cool points with just about everyone in the world. and jerry falwell too. and fred phelps.

the loudest christians seem to be the insane ones.

i live in a ridiculously conservative/religious state.

This may mean more for my UK friends than you other guys.

This guy Eric Potts was the drummer in the first band I formed with my younger brother (bass/singer) and I (guitar). We had a splendid 6 months in the "sun" playing parties and doing a rock middle break fill-in for the school brass band concert at the local sports centre which had a real stage and lights et all. We borrowed every bit of PA equipment we could scrounge and actually had more people paying for a ticket (due to my brothers groupies) than were there to see the school band (Pottsie played drums for them too).

Eric went off to drama school, regional theater in the North West of England and I did manage to exchange email with him a couple of years ago before he hit the big time on Coronation Street which is the longest running Soap Opera on UK TV. Eric was a cool guy.....pretty cool drummer (shit he was only 16 when we were playing) and his mum was a sweetie who let us practice at his house.

LOL Agreed on taste for British soaps. I think for British Actors of a certain girth in their 40's

(and believe it or not he is only a youngster despite his characters age) an established role in one of these soap opera's is the closest thing you can get to a Civil Service Job with a great pension that there is so thats why I am happy for him.

He can either do 5-8 years there and get out to be manager/player in a regional theater company; get picked up and make his way into character parts in gritty British Drama movies; or go all the way until he is 65-70 on Corrie and retire to a comfortable living on the Southport coast

I used to be in a band at school with this guy who played the drums; he's a proper virtuoso type, really good saxophonist, but also a right laugh - one of my best and oldest friends. We used to sit around listening to "1977" by Ash and Fun lovin Criminals and stuff for ages.

and now he's one of the few people I know who actually has a record deal, it makes sense, he's a talented guy. Trouble is he puts out this stuff and I hate to say it but it's the worst pile of crap I've ever heard and to top it all they called themsleves Far Too Loud. what?!

...and now I always make sure I'm carrying some cLOUDDEAD or something whenever we meet up just in case there's a repitition of "the Stansfield incident"...

One of my old school mates is now the boss at one of Australia's biggest uranium mines. We're still good friends and I see him regularly - but I always like to make a point of explaining to my 18-month-old daughter when we see him that this is the man that is destroying her planet and condemning her to a life of misery in an environmental wasteland.

( I figure I've still got a few years left before my daughter starts to get embarrassed by her hippie dad - when did you first start to feel embarrassed Bjam?)

This girl named Kim Dingle (seriously) was a year ahead of me and was the wild girl of the class of '69 (seriously) at Western High School in Las Vegas. She went on to become an artist - there's a painting of hers in the Corcoran Gallery in Washington DC that I somehow managed to miss when I was there a couple years ago...

We were in a couple drama productions together way back when... she's the only person I know of from my high school days who "made good." Well, okay, there was one girl who was a dancer in one of the big shows in Vegas, but we lived in Vegas, so that was what girls grew up to do...

During my late high school days/ early college years, I was in a band called Fear of Sleep (the curious can find some of the stuff on soundclick if they desire). It was just a duo of me and a girl named Faryl Millet. We didn't stay together because I was so busy being a parent and she was so busy being an actress. But the actress stuff worked out (as did the parenting).

The creator/writer/director of the animated series Johnny Bravo was one of my closest friends in grade school.

Also, while I was still at Fresno St. and they were still a part of the Big West athletic conference, Playboy did a "Girls of the Big West" pictorial, and a girl from my drama class was in it.

(as a side note, a few years later, another girl from that same pictorial showed up in my traffic school class.)
