Beer

Post by jack »

you know, we really need a thread about beer.

i'm drinking a redhook ESB, one of my favorite beers while mixing this weeks brody tune. love the beer, hate the new label. they had such a classic label on the old ESB. the new label looks all corporate and miller looking.

what the fuck happened to this company anyways. gives fremont a bad name. but i still like the beer ok.

Canadian, I am. Our beer rocks.

But whenever I go to the U.S., I'm all over the Magic Hat #9. Great, great beer. And the other one by the same brewer: Fat Angel? Or is it Phat Angel?
Punk rock is for children. Grab a six-pack at Half-a-Dozen Records.

plus, you can post drunken ramblings in the beer thread and nobody can give you shit. as long as it's a beer drunk rambling, which this is becoming.

I'm drinking a Molson/Carling Black Ice right now, and there's 14 more in the fridge. This is seriously the least expensive beer you can buy around here, and I like it. It goes down great, doesn't give me a headache like most other crap lagers (Molson Canadian, Labatt's Blue, etc) and, get this- it's got 6.1% alc/vol. It basically gets me buzzed, I don't feel like crap after drinking a lot of it, and no hangover the next morning. Cons: I think it's making me fat.

Great thread idea, BTW. Beer. I don't think anyone has ever talked about beer before on the entire internet </sarcasm>

I've recently discovered that a local store has many other kinds of Magic Hat beers. However they give no description or style information on the packs. Any suggestions? What kind is this angel?

I have this Smuttynose IPA which is crazy ass bitter. Too much I think, despite its New Hampshire origination.

 That cracks me up! If they sold something called "root beer" in Australia they would sell it by the truckload  . The could aslo make a premium version, called "Sexual Intercourse Beer".

I drink XXXX - which probably explains why Mr Fourex is my current avatar.

But I suppose, seeing how I always seem to become much more charming and attractive the more beer I drink - perhaps XXXX is root beer?

It's 9:11am on Sunday. There are 0 retail outlets you can get booze at in Toronto right now.

Sigh.

I think (think) Fat Angel is a pale ale, but I'm not positive. #9 has a hint of apricot, which is better than it sounds, and isn't sweet like a cooler. Those are the only two I've tried, but both are great.

When you come to America here in Boston we'll drink all the Magic Hat varities, brutha! Although my usual weapon of destruction is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Humble patience was a Magic Hat seasonal special in autumn. That's a good one too.

I drank Polish beer last night. It was a big bottle, and damn good. Like a German Pilsner, sorta. Ok well then i had a couple Becks and a couple Heine's too.

Basically, I'll drink any kind of beer. This thread makes me so happy! rök

Fav 3 beer drinking songs?
3. Port of Amsterdam (Jacques something...forget the last name)
2. The Blarney Stone (Ween)
1. Another Day, Another Bottle (Time and Whiskey; actually more of a whiskey drinking song, but to me, just an all around "rock your face off" celebration.)

Next, we should have a poll on how many people have a Homer Simpson beer opener...got two of 'em in my family...

Me too!. My favorite is called "Free" beer.

Is that anything like sending someone else to fetch your beer for you and insisting they have it opened when they bring it to you? 'Cause if it is, I got 4 of them with the wife and kids.

My favorite beer song is Todd Snyder's "Beer Run". B double E double R U N...Beer Run.

Here's my old band covering the Clancy Brothers' version.

Songs that get me drunk:
The Pogues "Whiskey You're The Devil"
Spirit of the West "Home for a Rest".

Yup.

I think we have it the same up here as you guys do. The big label brews are mostly crap (though that's relative ... Labatt's Blue is still beer, after all, and better by a mile than, you know, water.) Ya gotta go to the locals and micro-brews for the good stuff.

I go to this every year: http://www.beerfestival.ca/ ... All the local breweries are there, basically giving their beer away. You guys should all come up in August.

wow. does root beer really not exist in australia?

root beer is actually not an alcoholic beverage at all. it's just a soft drink. i'm not sure why it has beer in the title. but it's definitely the best soft drink in existence. :D

i'm actually not a beer person, so yeah. that was my lame contribution to the thread.

I stick to beers like Molsen Canadian and Lucky for one simple reason.

Cheap.

Drunk.

It think it's known as 'sarsparilla' - disgusting stuff - you'd have to be rooted to drink it
