Root beer is wonderful, probably because you can't find it in the UK. A while ago you couldn't get Dr Pepper either now it's as ubiquitous as the burger house that shall not be named and cola.

XXXX have great commercials but the beer is utter nats.
The only good beer is Duvel (Belgium weiss beer). :D

when i was in the uk about 6 or 7 years ago, i had a dr. pepper. it was completely different from dr. pepper in the states. it had more of a fruity flavor to it. i thought it was odd that they changed the drink to sell it in another country.

*sorry for continuing the non-beer discussion.

From the hip...if I'm not mistaken...Sasparilla, at least in it's early form in the U.S., was more of a tea than a soft drink. Root Beer in it's current state is married with CO2 and is quite delicious. Although, I don't really drink it. My cousin on the other hand drinks that and chocolate milk every day. He's 34.

You and I, we will do this. The last time I was there I filled up on a Jalepeno beer and another from your neck of the woods—I think the brewery is at carlaw and something in Mississauga. Know it?

Cameron's? Old Credit Ale?

Hey, what about the Church Key Ale ... with the mock pews ... and the preacher ... sermonizing ... beer in the name of God.

Apricot beer? Sounds like something that would be served in glasses on little lace doileys to big girls blouses wearing skirts and stinking of lavender. Or wearing pink-spotted fur coats.

my favorite beers are:

Anchor Liberty Ale
Abita Springs Turbodog

I also made a wicked Oatmeal Stout once, but due to the random nature of my beermaking (not to mention the fact that I don't do it anymore), I expect to never get to try that one again.

No and no. I think it was a red ale.

And Caravan, I stand by my original endorsement of Magic Hat #9. It's fantastic. Go throw a shrimp on the barbie.

Edit: I mean, really, would a guy wearing a white furcoat with pink polka dots endulge in anything but the manliest beers? I think not.

And when the beer buzz gets gerty...magic hat #9 is a little gerty.

I'd estimate Gert's weekly beer consumption at about 150-200 12 oz bottles....weekly... That doesn't even count whiskey, cider, wine or smirnoff ice...

had to add: Wachusett Blueberry....hmmm any Wachusett for that matter....AND didjya know my last name is "Brewer"?

And for a good reason...

favorite beers:

yuengling (especially their black and tan)
merry monks
hoegaarden
guiness (warm, damnit! and draft!)
rogue ale

favorite songs to hear while drinking beer:
"drunken sailors" - noir desir
"when i was a young girl" - feist
"my wild love" - the doors

and if you're every in pittsburgh, go to the church brew works: a micro-brew that's in an old cathedral. mmm... celestial gold lager and wood-fired pierogie pizza...

Since moving to the Philly area I have enjoyed a range of local and US regional beers. Regular Yuengling Lager is pretty good wet your whistle beer. We are blessed with numerous microbreweries around the SE PA area. If I am in the mood for something more fulesome I Do enjoy Victory's Hop Devil.....tasty!

I do love my McEwans Scotch Ale as I miss McEwans Export greatly and have tried a number of the local intpretations of Scotch Ale recipes. Do love to drink anumber of English beers from time to time with Old Speckled Hen being one I love.

When I lived in Posrtsmouth I loved a strong ale called XXXXX brewed I think by Gales of Horndean. Quick Internet search shows it defunct, but I recall getting a charger on my way home on a Friday afternoon and having a very pleasant entry to the weekend :-)
