Maybe it's actually the lack of enjoyable Phunt songs that would do it?
It's actually the mighty "general public" who have the biggest say here, but don't play if it's such a grind for you before we've even started.

Oh and if you're gonna whine, at least turn up on time. Girlfriend.

After the deadline, the songs will be strung into a podcast or hosted stream (a la last year's SF Radio) that can be enjoyed, while the Jury (The 3 J's) deliberate.

* Reviews and loud talking is encouraged but the jury will not be swayed (except by large bribes).

* On the 8th day, the jury will make their decision
Am I confused? How is it that the general public has the biggest say under these rules?

The vote of the people only matters in the end. The only people who will have immunity at the end of a fight are:

1- The person who has the top vote of the judges.
2- The person who wins the obscenely hard trivia challenge.

But the idea of having a popular vote every battle so that there's one more immunity spot given out is an idea that I will consider. Populous of Nur Ein Island, please discuss this topic. I would like to hear your opinions.

well, if a weekly public vote decides immunity for someone, we (jim, johnny, and i) need to know who that is before we try to vote them off.

which might not be an issue.

If these are based on Song Fight! titles, isn't there already a popular vote?

3 immunities per round is too many. Let's go with the rules as written.

Whoa.

Okay. Gotta step in and clear all the confusion. Here We Go.

The Nur Ein will be running off its own titles, as it will adhere to different time frames than the Songfight.

The jury will have the say on who gets the immunity. Popular vote will only happen at the end. Think of this as Iron Chef. No matter how many people the challenger may have hooting and hollaring for them in the luxury box, it's the judges that matter.

The only other way to get immunity is through being the first to answer Niv's Obscenely Hard Music Trivia Immunity Challenge.

The Nur Ein will be starting in March so as to give those who are doing the FAWM time to complete their stuff. It's currently set for 25 bands and 7 rounds of play.

Everyone needs to send me a link to a photo of themselves and a link to one of their favorite songs (of their own).

Hey, does anyone wanna work on a Nur Ein theme song?? Something very crunchy would suffice.

Here's how the line-up stands:
Ken, Kamakura, Sven Mullet, Jolly Roger, Jim Tyrell, Sausage Boy, Noah McLaughlin, Bjam, Steuym, Wreckdom, Ross Durand, Denyer, Deshead, 15-16 Puzzle, Glenn Case, Bolio, Octothorpe, Calfborg, Thornberry, Remiss, Luke Henley and Phunt Your Friends. That leaves 2 openings.

Any other questions or things that need clarification?

If Jute Gyte would be willing to collab with me on that, I think it could be an interesting, sufficiently crunchy combo!

Good idea, Glenn, but I know that Jute is currently busy with school (which is why he's not in this edition of the Nur Ein).

Okay, folks, I know that everyone has been saying and I quote:
"Can we stop trying to change the contest that Niveous eloquently outlined? That was the contest I was signing up for."

Well. I'm gonna have to throw in a small monkey wrench in. I've been doing some research and looking at the voting and review styles of the jury. Granted, J$ and Jim don't see eye to eye on each other's music, in many cases they do see eye to eye on the music of others. And I want lively debates in the judging. So I'm throwing in two more jurors making a final count of 5. The other two jurors will be myself and Mogosagatai. That should give the jury a bit more flavor.

PS- With this change, PYF is out BUT the BeWells are in.

Did I mention that I'm not planning to change up the formula anymore. I'm just waiting on the last 2 bands.

Now would probably be a good time to ask this question that has been poking at me.

Exactly what voting scheme will the jury be using to determine the people who will be cut from any given round?

Just like how the band with the song the judges deem the best will get immunity, the judges consenus will also decide which bands get eliminated. If their songs at the bottom of the judges list, they will be eliminated.

I've been tempted to enter this..but I don't think I have the time to commit all the way to the end. But it seems incredibly motivating. So, I'll just have to watch it unfold. Hell, just watching you guys decide on the rules has been entertaining...just wait til we get some music happening!
