I want a flight sim or fighter game

Links and other hanky panky that doesn't have to do with anything in particular.

I want a flight sim or fighter game

Post by Sober »

It's been about 8 years since I've played a flight simulator/fighter game. The last one I played was something like F16 that came in a bundle with Civilization (I), Railroad Tycoon, and some submarine game.

Recently, I've been watching the history channel, and they've got all these shows about WWII dogfights and shit, and the idea sounds fun all of a sudden.

So, since I've been way out of the loop, what games are out there, and what should I get?

Genre's pretty much dead, sadly. Pick up Falcon 4.0 or IL-2 Sturmovik and relive the glorious last stand of the fighter sim. The community that still supports the genre is pretty hardcore in providing free downloadable add-on content, too.

Ha, F16. I remember that. Last light sim I played was FA18 Interceptor on my Amiga. That game was awesome.

The closest to flight sims games you get now is flying a plane around in Battlefield 2.

Awesome. I'm looking for something on pc, mind, and I don't know that I mind a straight fighter. I just always enjoyed just flying around and doing loops, seeing how fast I could stall the plane, etc.

I'll check those two out, john.

Well, of course, if you're not playing Battlefield 2 already, you should be.

And if you are, please let me know. Always love to play BF2.

PC, yes. It's a beast of a game, I haven't gotten to play it because my computer can't actually run it. It's a first-person shooter but I believe it has some flying-around stuff in it.

I love "Age of Empires". It's the only computer game I've ever liked. But I had it on PC and now I have a Mac I don't have it anymore.

I was in a shop the other day and I looked in the game section and they didn't have "Age of Empires" but they had "Civilization" - so I bought it cos I thought it would be the same thing.

It isn't. It sucks. I want "Age of Empires" again.

I loved the original Settlers game. There was something so calming about playing that game. It wasn't on of these Civ Sims where you had to be 'on' all the time. It was great. Subsequent editions have failed to ignite me as the original did.
