B+ Just rented and watched this last night, and it was a lot of fun. Roman Coppola writes and directs a movie about an American film maker who's editing a cheesy Barbarella-esque sci-fi flick and windws up getting to finish it after the director is fired. He's also struggling with his relationship with a French stewardess and falling for the lead actress in the film within the film. Anyway, it's a fun movie, with good acting, and great music and visuals.

I absolutely love this movie. I can never keep a consistant favorite movies list, but this is always in the top 25. Yes, I'm an editor, so it speaks to me pretty loudly, but I though all of the characters were great (especially Schwartzman), and I loved the authenticity of the camera work. Solid A from me.
White people, is you funky?

Yeah, the characters were great and Schwartzman was hilarious. Billy Zane was entertainingly cheesy, too. I kept thinking, "You should listen to your friend Billy Zane." I liked all the great extras on the DVD, especially the on-set documentaries made by the director's mom, sister, cousin, etc. It was cool to hear about the totally different sets of equipment they used for making the 3 different sets of scenes (Paul's home movies, Dragonfly, and the rest). I think I'm going to pick up the soundtrack, too.
