Dead-Sexy Desktops
Be it spartan or cluttered, designed for utility or futility, if you want to show off your desktop then post screenshots here.
Mine! [Warning: if you are offended by breasts in profile then GET OFF THE FREAKING INTERNET!]. My wallpaper is from deviantART, although I coloured it and gave the girl some free tattoo removal surgery. I'm using Blackbox as my shell. My desktop usually looks a little cleaner than that: I just expanded everything so I could show off transparency and things. Also, it's not usually this purple.
Now, your turn.

my desktop as a whole isn't nearly so cool, but i love the images from this guy, all from lyon's annual festival of light.

Okay, here's mine.
Wallpaper was made in Artrage, though not by me. I'm running WindowBlinds, ObjectDock, and Rainlendar. And you can see mIRC, which is running the No Name Script.
Hooray for customization!

Nice desktop. I used to use these, but I could never get my window blinds skins to match the feel of Blackbox, and ObjectDock kept eating all my system tray icons and then disappearing (basically, if I minimized something to the tray, it's gone and I can't get back at it. Also, ObjectDock would intermittently refuse to un-hide itself when I mouse'd over it). Then I discovered BBLean, which is an awesome, light version of Blackbox that does application skinning and supports fancy plugins.Tonamel wrote:WindowBlinds, ObjectDock
Also, stay the hell away from Konfabulator, which has recently been bought by Yahoo. It used to be great, but now it's bloated and horrible.

This is mine from work.
I have a set of 12 or so of these 'me's I built in some flash South Park character generator. I stuck these little captions on them, and cycle the desktop to match the mood i'm in. It helps me to get across to my workmates that I am pissed off.
Subtle.

now you can see the shamefulness of the ancient mp3 collection on my desktop and wonder, just like i do, why i don't do something with them.
oh, and there's the full version of my avatar picture, which is schloss neuschwanstein from my honeymoon.

I've never had that problem. Maybe it's fixed in recent versions.Puce wrote:ObjectDock kept eating all my system tray icons and then disappearing (basically, if I minimized something to the tray, it's gone and I can't get back at it. I'm pretty wary of shell replacements ever since I tried litestep, which I found to be pretty horrible. bblean looks interesting, but I'm happy enough with the setup I've got.
And no need to warn me against Konfabulator. I have a deeply rooted dislike of widgets. And even if I wanted them, I'd go with DesktopX, since, y'know, I'm a Stardock fanboy (GalCiv 4eva).
