When I signed up I had temporarily forgotten how much I suck at this. Instead of doing 14 songs for FAWM, I'm instead doing some songs for my own damn self.

Yeah me too sadly. Been a very distracting time at work with lots of time away and not enough time at home. However I did get my ABBA fight song in on time :P

I've written 3, recorded none, updated nothing on the site. Is it just me, or does anyone else only count recorded songs. I know it's not required, I'm just in this mode of "if I can't hear it, it don't exist", which doesn't hold up to anything, in the court of songwriting.

Phew...glad I am not the only one who has had "real life" cramp their FAWM stylee :-)

That said J$, feel free to enter that spiffy new version of your "Don't you" with guest artist appearance ;-)

That qualifies doesnt it?....kinda....sorta...ish

Man, I pulled it off.

Hmm, now about that ABBA song ....

As long as I get a scratch "me'n'guitar" version done, I call it a wrap. Though given the style of music I write, it's usually easy to guess how the finished song will sound. Your stuff's more complex, so maybe it's harder to envision the end result.

Congrats to J$ and deshead.

I wrote almost 14 songs, but recorded nothing. I am going to keep working on it until it is done.

i don't see it that way. I write a good amount of my stuff as lyric/chord charts before recording, but I always flush them out as charts in any case (with few exceptions), since the production process messes everything up anyway.

I guess I think of albums being recorded entities, and not an album's worth of songs. A collection of sheet music, of course, could be called an album. Nevermind, I'm just a loser looking for justification :(

My argument is that in terms of an album-in-a-month on the web, not posting something listenable, makes it poetry fight, not album fight.

Yes we could argue semantics about what constitutes an album. But, hell, you could put up 14 photos, and call it an album. (which some might say is what I did last year). If I wanted to imagine from a set of lyrics, I'd go to fpwm.org.

Mainly I take this stance because as FAWM gets bigger, there are more 'hey this lyric is great! Can't wait to hear the song' type entries that mean that less people scroll down to my latest entry as it disappears into the 'previous page' void at an alarmingly alacrious rate

Ah, so your not angry they aren't writing actual songs, you are angry they are raining on your parade?

Quite rightly so, too.

What you pulled off last year is so beyond poetry, photography & songwriting. Where's that link?

Abso-frickin'-lutely! Don't they know who I am, etc etc

Signs of Life is down at the moment (when kongbalong went to a different domain it got left behind. Thanks again for the year's worth of free hosting, Craig!) I will upload it again next week to my website, once I have re-mastered and mixed it all (about 3/4 way through at mo)
