thanks, i'm kind of a peripheral computer game fan. i like ut2k3 but never played 4. also am hoping half-life 2 comes out someday.

gee, I didn't read woodward's lyrics before the prior post... but seriously... none of you can figure out why people like his stuff? That to me is just flat out weird. To me, it's painfully obvious: he has a knack for putting together a decent, broadly appealing package... now if he were some godlike artist, he'd have a deal and be off and running... but he doesn't. he seems to win a disproportionate number of fights, so I suppose he's the Yankees of Songfight, and on that level, I can see the urge to bash the guy, people love to see someone rise to the top, and especially see them fall, only to rise again (see "Jesus", "Superman" and "CC De Ville") but let's call a spade a spade here. (I mean the tool.) His stuff is decently produced, decently played, decently written, decently sung AT A BARE MINIMUM.

Now, his reviewing style can leave a little to be desired... (sorry dude, but ..... ) and everyone has different tastes.... and opinions.

It's not like he wrote a tune about different ethnic groups without any awareness of the probable impact of his ignorance.... hint hint.

It's not like he actually sucks at what he does.

He's not getting any grammies either though... so let's layoff on the dude. I mean really, can't we all just pick on Denyer?

Here is something that everybody else (seemingly) likes, but that I just don't get the appeal of: taking home the unfinished portion of one's meal at a restaurant.

i don't understand why you'd want to do this either.
although usually if i am at a restaurant it's because i'm out someplace anyway and i'm not on my way back home when i leave, so i can't take food with me. but i HATE the idea of wasting food also so no matter how much of a struggle, i nearly always finish all of my food while i'm there. and sometimes even though i often regret it later, i help whoever i'm with finish hers too.

one thing i DO get, though, and like quite a bit, is when my mom brings home the unfinished portions of HER meals from restaurants. because once it's in the fridge, as far as i'm concerned, it belongs to me.

I do not do left overs. I do not see the appeal of bringing home food that has been half eaten. Especially Mexican and Italian foods where the cheese is all gooey and what not. Even when it comes to left overs when I cook...I portion them out into BRAND NEW MEALS before I put them in the fridge. I'm soooo with you on this. I leave unfinished food on my plate when I leave the restaurant.

i'd say they're roughly equal, really. depends on my mood. dc certainly has a much more developed mature line (vertigo), where marvel's max line in basically just getting off the ground (but with a good start thanks to the wonderful work of garth ennis).

Both sides have become obssessed with making their characters suffer as much as possible. I'm talking about the main superhero characters that is.

SPOILERS BELOW
Let's drag Gwen Stacy back from the grave and make her have two children with a dire enemy, so Peter Parker can suffer. Let's shoot Lois Lane. Let's kill off Plastic Man's wife offscreen. Let's put The Flash's wife in a car accident so she miscarries their baby, then let's make her leave him. Let's break Green Lantern's heart, oh, how about three times. Have Betty sleep with another man and leave Bruce, of course for their own good.
END SPOILERS

Gah, I can't stand them any more. I used to use comics to ESCAPE from real life, now I can't do that any more.

Here's one: The Apprentice I just don't get how these people are in any way interesting. I can't reach for the remote fast enough.

I'd add The Benefactor to that, but thankfully noone likes that show!!

Yeah, I hear ya JB on the story lines... this attempt at "realizm" has pushed them away from the whole point of the medium.. escapism.. those writers need to re-read some early 40's classics!!
