Well Blue, you have to look at needs and the postion. A great defensive end can really help a team and completely change a defense. A great running back can help also, but for how long? Heck the Colts thought Edge was expendable. What if Bush pulls a Kijana Carter and blows out his knee in a preseason game? What if Manning sets a record for the number of sacks he takes next year because the Colts have no running game?
Defense wins championships but it's all a crapshoot man. And pre-draft gossip.

Which is exactly why the Texans shouldn't draft Bush. They need to trade down and take Ferguson. Offensive line is far and away their biggest need (they already have a good enough RB), Ferguson is good, and moving down takes away the pressure of making a surefire pick. Two years ago, they were a couple pieces away from being a playoff team. Then they forgot to bring any offensive linemen to camp and David Carr got drilled all season.Dan-O from Five-O wrote:Well Blue, you have to look at needs and the postion.
Furthermore, anyone who says Texans should take Leinart/Young(/Cutler) is silly. Carr hasn't been given a proper chance to show how good he is. You can't exactly complete passes from your back.
i dunno that Davis is all that great, but you can't go wrong with a dude named "D'Brickashaw."john m wrote:Which is exactly why the Texans shouldn't draft Bush. i am all in favor of drafting linemen early.
my redskins have no first round picks, tho, so this year's draft is pretty academic for me.

Jeez -- you guys from the Songfight IRC... this is such an obvious ploy...
...hope it works. I'm tired of it, too. But it's like watching a car wreck! I mean a train wreck... a fat lady undress? ...whatever.

Thanks for the tips.fluffy wrote:Hey, OTM, your idea of an entirely democratic website is interesting. Why not set up an experimental site where this sort of thing could be tried out and see how well it works out? I recommend using the MediaWiki software, as used by Wikipedia, since it already supports a lot of the things you need (collaborative decision-making, incremental page edits, sandboxed backend components, etc.) and so you can see how well this would work.
Of course there's always the Godel incompleteness theorem to deal with, like, what happens when the community as a whole decides to relinquish their community control over the site, as some would argue has happened here (by supporting the Spud/JB hegemony).
(A common analogy of Godel's incompleteness theorem, in case you're not familiar with it: "Could God create a boulder so big that even He couldn't lift it?")
But my point is that if you want to experiment with a fully-democratic site, the best way to do so would be to bring one into being, rather than trying to convert an existing site. If it's clearly better, then people will move over.
Heck, you could even use the domain name songfight.com. The current owners would be happy to sell it to you.
The problem I have with your Spud/JB hegemony is that it is only you 30 making the decision that the other 970 users have to abide by or leave.
Most have left. This indicates that they do not agree with you. So your claim to democracy fails there.

Besides I think it will be a lot more fun to kick your 30 asses all over the Internet. And when I am kicking your asses I want you to remember Lightning Ear Fart. I'm going to do it for him.
Think back to the last time I said "goodbye" to you. I was not going anywhere. You had to leave Dumbrella due to my trolling you.
Now go over to Dumbrella and take a look at Jeffrey Rowlands forum
Locked Mess Monster.
There's a big ol' padlock on it.
You are going to play the game.
And you are going to play by my rules.
And here is the fundamental rule:
The Power of the Central Negative is Equal to the Power of the Designated Leader
Get that memorized because you are going to experience it and it is going to be in your childrens textbooks. You will run across it when you have to help them with their homework.
Now you may resume talking to yourselves about whatever.

Okay, part of your problem here is that you're assuming I'm your enemy. I'm not. I genuinely support your effort. Seriously. I'll even help you get the software up and running if you need it (to a point, I mean, I have a day job after all).Oust The Mods wrote:Thanks for the tips.

Why are you including me in that 30? Just because I've been here longer than anyone else doesn't mean I'm making any decisions. And I didn't make any claims to Songfight being democratic. I hadn't even posted on this thread prior to me supporting your idea. Did you think I was being sarcastic or something? Most have left. This indicates that they do not agree with you. So your claim to democracy fails there.
Well, they're not doing anything to include themselves here, they're just lurking/listening/voting. Just as I browse Wikipedia from time to time and sometimes make minor edits doesn't mean I consider myself part of that community. You are not interested in the Virtual Community of over 1000 users.
No, Song Fight left Dumbrella because the admins decided to stop being a burden on Dumbrella since we were causing them a lot of headaches and they weren't able to grow us as we needed to. Song Fight hadn't been part of the Dumbrella network for a while, and the SF admins decided to take ownership of their own forum.Besides I think it will be a lot more fun to kick your 30 asses all over the Internet. and when I am kicking your asses I want you to remember Lightning Ear Fart.
