A while back I saw this interesting article on the problems which had been plaguing the production of A Scanner Darkly:

I mention it because I just saw Trailer 2 which is an actual movie trailer and not just test footage, and it's looking quite good. Is there something wrong with me for looking forward to a movie starring Keanu Reeves? It seems like in this case his notorious demeanor might actually be an asset.
A Scanner Darkly
woah, i had no idea that movie was being rotoscoped by hand. when i saw the trailer i assumed they were using the same 3DSMAX plugin that those stupid stock broker commercials use to turn live-action actors into line-art-y animation.
i was wondering what the hell happened to that movie. i figured they had packed it in over being pissed off at a TV commercial stealing their thunder.

Oh, that's an automated process? I guess that's why the people in those ads move wrong. They just don't look right and they're past that gap... er, what's it called... Oh yeah, the "Uncanny Valley."blue wrote:using the same 3DSMAX plugin that those stupid stock broker commercials use to turn live-action actors into line-art-y animation.
Those ads are kinda icky, because of this. Not as bad as "The Polar Express," though.

Thank you for that link which, by extension, lead me to what is sure to be my favorite word for a while:HeuristicsInc wrote:Oh, that's an automated process?
