I didn't think cats were allowed either, so are you breakin' the law or am i just a little ignorant of the complexities of Australian civil code.

No - cats have never been banned. But there are plenty that would welcome it (me included).

We got ours a few years ago to control the rats/mice in the feed shed on our farm - now we live in the city and the cat came with us - and now we have a vicious little killing machine as a pet.

i would love to have a pet skunk, but most states have rules about them. some states you only need a license. others you can only have certain color skunks. it's weird. i just want a skunk, man.

the other day i had a dream that there was a skunk in the house (my parents' house). then it turned out that the skunk was really my cat in disguise, like some wizard had made her look like a skunk. and my other cat was disguised as a capybara (speak, the world's largest rodent!). luckily when i woke up they were as normal.

If you paint a white stripe down the back of a black cat - it becomes very sexually attractive to French skunks. I think I saw that on a documentary once.

I would also like a capybara. When I had my alpaca farm - I always thought it would be cool to run a few head of capaybara too. And some free range guinea pigs. And a sloth. Sort of a 'South American Mammal World on the Gold Coast'. oh...and a Giant Anteater too.

My Mom worked as a Vet assistant in Oklahoma (in the '50s). They had lots of bizness removing the scent glands from skunks so they would be more pleasant pets.

We have a hamster named Prudence.

She learned how to open her cage over the holidays, and escaped into the basement via the heating system.

Anyway, we just assumed she ate mouse poison and died, but a few nights later she woke me up by running around on top of me in the bed, and we managed to catch her.

If she escapes again, we're getting hamster poison.

I think you saw that on looney tunes.

Niveous, that is a lot of guinea pigs. I've got two at my house, and I love them. Right now we're taking care of a dog named spud for our cousins, and he throws up all over. I really don't think I'm going to own a dog for a long time ... never a pit bull or anything. What do you guys think about people getting mauled by dogs?

i had a friend in high school (coincidentally, his name was dan) who wrote a short screenplay called "mauled by dogs." as i recall, it was about a guy who got mauled by dogs. and then he got shunned by society for some reason and it was some kind of social commentary about stereotyping or something. he was a weird guy. for logistical reasons we never managed to film it.

My ex just emailed me that our cat Kilgore had to be put down last month. Damn cancer :( Something about having received many vacinations in the same spot over the years? Has anyone heard of this?
His twin sister Venus is still crazy mad and running around, though :)

My condolescences, Roymond.

I'll ask my wife, who is extremely animal knowledgable, but on a quick google search I did find one story of a cat dying and the owner blaming repeated vaccinations on the same area leading to creation of a mass.
