Am I Forgiven
By Ross Durand
I don’t believe in you
But I believe I do the right thing without fear of what will happen when I die
But suppose I find myself at the gates with old St. Peter
Trying to explain that I have lived a good life
But I don’t believe in you
And if I’m wrong am I forgiven?
Cause I thought it was the point to love your neighbor and to try to be forgiving four-hundred ninety times
Not just sing a hymn and cross yourself and quote well from the bible
And to get a last anointment and confess before you die
If I try hard every day just to be a better man
Am I forgiven?
Cause they say that you’ll forgive the ones who are killing in your name
And they say that you forgive the ones who claim that they are saved
To accept you as a savior matters more that what I do
I guess I think that’s pretty fucked up if it’s really about you
Don’t want to get to heaven cause of stickers on my car
But I hear that givin money to the TV goes pretty far
Still with so many books sometimes I get confused
Is it Allah forgives the Muslims and Jehovah forgives the Jews
In the USA today it must be Jesus who decides
Am I forgiven?
