Okay, I may die trying, but put me down for "Gaucho" by Steely Dan.

I love this song, and if I could assist in some small way? I would do so.

I have it narrowed down to three, though I'm pretty much sure I know which one it'll be... assuming, of course, that i can figure out how to record the damn thing without any equipment.

I await the adjudication of the coverfight mistress.
And to add an antipodean flavour - I assume some Air Supply, or perhaps The Little River Band's, "Reminiscing" would be appropriate?

I just read something the other day about how this was recorded - have you seen it? Apparently, that white noise-ish vocal kind of thing is like a gazillion tracks of "ahhhh" on every note in the chromatic scale, looped and faded in and out. I'm not describing it very well and should find the link but I put it on my "someday, yeah right" to-do list to try and replicate that effect.

Anyway, if you tackle this one, Stu, I'll be expecting great things.

How can I not do "Danny's Song"? (Unless Marcus was claiming it back there, I wasn't sure)

No Tull

No. Tull is not viable. Yes I know they were in the show. But I don't think it was trying to make an argument for Tull (the band, not the agriculturalist) as Smooth. I think they just wanted to dress up in loose shirts and talk in faux shakespeare, while playing a flute.

Am I just crazy or did you all leave out Captain & Tennille? Cuz I'm all over that action.

I will either do Love Will Keep Us Together or Do That To Me One More Time.

This may be just after the Golden Age of Yacht Rock, but I'd like to try a smooth 1986 hit by Steve Winwood.

Uh Oh. We better speak up before someone else takes it...

Blue Seahorse and Periwinkle Seahorse are going to claim "Sailing" by Christopher Cross.

Hopefully that's not the one you had in mind, Starf. It still leaves gems like "Ride Like the Wind", "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)", and "All Right" amongst others.

:)

ROCK!

Haha, I'd be honored. But why make it homo, it should just be sincere cuz, y'know, love will keep us together.

I like itallics.

Jefff just came up with a brilliant moniker for the periwinkle/blue seahorse combo.

We shall be known as: Christopher Case.

I would do "Sweet Freedom" by Michael McDonald but I can't find any tabs.

That song holds a special place in my heart. (I once told this story in the movies thread, but anyways)

At my old job, two of my friends & I were always getting accosted by a group of our co-workers who were religious zealots. They would spend large amounts of their day trying to get us to convert and wouldn't get the hint. So one day we decided to give them a taste of their own medicine. We decided to create our own religion. We created our own deity, Jeebus Crust. He was part Pirate, part Speed Racer.

And we went all out with this. We made symbols for the religion- a flaming 8 ball. We canonized saints: Bruce Lee, Benny Hill. And we started writing a musical: Jeebus Crust: Supercar. The first song was built from "Sweet Freedom". We would go around the office singing "Shine Sweet Jeebus, Shine your light on me". And that was the final straw for the zealots. They left us alone.

Still to this day at the old job, there's a frisbee with a flaming 8-ball painted on it.

That's hilarious, Niv. If it would help for me to work out the chord structure, I could help you out.

Word. No prob.

If you are planning on playing guitar, you might be in for a test. That song has like 1,000 chords. I'll gladly transcribe it, though. Hell, I'll play on it if you like.

ROCK!
