The Big Sappy-Ass-End-of-Year Thanks Thread

Post by jack »

I know I didn't do a lot of songfightin this year (one brody song and one johnny in the corner song), but I did manage to throw a pretty good 2 day party, which i hope counts for something.

in particular, thanks to the folks that helped make that a reality with their tireless work planning, shlepping, and creating a well-oiled machine (spud, ken, blue, sam, glenn, and king arthur in particular). i think it went pretty well. and thanks to everyone that made the effort to visit santa cruz (especially caravan ray, and special thanks for the cap and the 2 bottles of bundenburg rum). one goes as your proxy to the winner of next year's live fight. :)

it was a blast to play with and meet you all.

and of course thanks to spud and JB for their tireless and often underappreciated work here.

It's been a good year. Thanks to everyone who I've gotten advice from, made music with, argued and lost with, etc. etc. I've learned tons, and am looking forward to another great year.

Greetings of the season to songfighter type people. Next year I hope to submit songs again and hopefully travel across the ocean to wherever the live event happens to be.

I won my first Songfight, hosted a mini SF Presents, went to SFL2006, and had a wonderful time on the boards. :)

<3 to all of Songfight, especially those that I met this year, either for the first time or a reunion.
Songfighter since back in the day.

Thanks to Jack, and everyone else, who made SFL2k6 so great. It was awesome to see again the people I'd already met, especially those of you I've met several times now, and it was great to meet a bunch of new folks in person. Thanks to Spud and JB, for footing the bills and running the site. Thanks to my regular collaborators, Ken and Erin, and thanks to my new collaborator, Jute Gyte, and attempted and hopefully future collaborators, Jolly Roger and TVIYH. Thanks to folks who write reviews, especially people who provided positive feedback and constructive criticism about entries I was involved in. Thanks to anybody who voted for me. Thanks to everybody for being generally pretty awesome, and thanks for the many many entries that I've enjoyed over the year.

I've only been here since November, but I'm happy I found a place full of people that are into the same thing that I am. Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good fight. :P

Thanks to Bjam, Steuym, TVIYH & Asya, Glenn, J$, Jack Shite, Mogo, Lucidia, Wren & Luke, Furrypedro, Racine, Wages, King Arthur, Bill & Michelle, Bzl, Everyone from SF Wayne, The Semolina Pilchards, Everyone who wanted to help me in my ill-fated Broken Monster album, All the Nur Ein competitors, All the SF'ers who I'll collected on my myspace like Pokemon.....

I think I covered all my bases. Thanks everyone for making it a really rocking year!

Although it's probably politically incorrect, Merry Christmas to everyone who wants to except that well wish at this time of year. Happy whatever to the rest of you.

I'm just happy to have met half of my goals for 2006, that being at least trying to be more of an asset to SongFight! and less of an ass. I've managed for the most part to avoid MAJOR flame wars, and produce one winning effort. Although in retrospect, I think winning has hurt my efforts this year because I ended up not wanting to spoil a 25% win rate with a sub-par effort. Word to the wise folks, as Glenn Case said, "Just do it".

I mainly want to thank Spud & JB for always coming through in providing both monetarily and timewise a wonderfully unique outlet for musicians of all kinds, but for also giving of themselves for the all around terrific free music to be found here. I hope I can reciprocate in some small manner to both of them. Perhaps just by reminding everyone here what it is that they have taken on and what it is that they provide, I can help to give back.

To all of the other musicians whose music I have had the good fortune to load legally onto my computer for free, I thank you. I hope someday the FBI shows up here to inspect my hard drive and I can gleefully give them the finger as they try to ponder how so much great music could possibily be available for free and legally downloaded.

Good luck and thanks to everyone who has been a part of 2006 at SongFight!.

I'd like to say a huge thanks to Spud and JB for maintaining this great community. I may not spend a lot of time chattering and bickering on the boards and such, but I think I've entered nearly every fight for well over a year now. What would I do without Songfight? Probably exercise or something. I'm grateful my dumbells are still in the closet. Thanks to all of you who participated in the fights, wrote reviews, voted, collaborated with me on music, and kept things interesting all year. Merry Christmas!

I've had one of my more productive years, musically, between plus+5, doing a few entries of my own, completing most of an album-a-week, finally coming up with a band name, and doing all sorts of stuff with Octothorpe, while juggling a few alter-egos in the meantime. Song Fight is the bombness, and I love you all.

(But if you really loved me, you'd participate in Project 3.)

And yeah, thanks Jack for stepping up to the plate on SFLive, and to Spud for just generally being an awesome person, JB for still putting up with how stupid and annoying we all are, and jesus crap there's no way I can thank everyone other than the obvious ones without leaving people out and making them sad so.

EVERYONE: you are AWESOME.

Except Denyer.

I love you all.

Jack & JB... I've somehow lost your numbers...or else you too would have been the victim of my drunk dialing on Christmas!

So Merry Christmas & Happy New Years!

My first resolution is to get back into the fights.

Thanks to Denyer for starting an awesome rap duo with a bright songfight future (even if we never win a fight).

I've felt really thankful this New Years, but have had trouble finding the right moments to express it. So...

Thanks to Songfight for 5 wonderful years of friendship.

Thanks to my 2007 regular collab partners: Tiny Robots, Seamus Collective, Cutie Pies, and Semolina Pilchards.

Thanks to Niveous, Jack, and J$ for hosting Nur Ein. Thanks to all the great competition.

Thanks to Glenn Case for the random phone calls and heads ups.

Thanks to Jack for hosting a great SF Live. Thanks to Team Seahorse for a great weekend.

Thanks to Prayformojo for hosting SFPLA and Chris and Heidi for letting me crash on the couch more than once.

Thanks to Obs for the best songfight collab name in a while.

Thanks to Hoblit for the unexpected holiday phone call. Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy holidays.

Thanks to John and Spud for being more generous than onerous.

I really appreciate everyone's involvement and encouragement.

My apologies to everyone I wasn't able to collab with this year. Let's get started!
