Lock up your Mothers....it's THE MESS!

Set up live gigs with each other, announce gigs you're playing around the country or whatever, talk about how the show went, post links to recordings, etc.

Is the world ready for a 40-year-old Boy Band? And if so - who do you want on your school lunch box?

Lock up your Mothers....it's THE MESS!

Post by Caravan Ray »

20 years ago, in Newcastle, NSW - 3 little boys started a band.

In January 2007 - 2 of those little boys turn 40 - and they're gettin' the band back together!

The (legendary) Mess will reform for one night only at the Merewether Bowling Club on December 30 this year.

I am trying to re-assemble some of our old original songs from memory so we can play them on the night. I have made a MySpace site to post them for the other band members to try to learn them, and to try to work out arrangements. We didn't have arrangements 20 years ago - we just had lots of beer.

http://www.myspace.com/themessreturns

Any suggestions or comments will be welcome. Of course - any Songfighters who happen to be in Newcastle that night are welcome to drop in and hear a lot of old farts winge about how if only we weren't 10 years ahead of our time - we could have been silverchair....

I had my 40th birthday party last Saturday - and the old band got back together

here's some video. Me playing bass, my mate David on guitar (who was also celebrating his 40th), and sadly our 50 year old drummer Ian was left out of frame. Nevermind - no one wants to see an old bloke hit things - all the sizzle is up the front. We may be old - but the chicks are still mad for us.

My bass is an old Ibanez flying V. I got it second hand, but if I remember right, we searched it back to being early 70's. I love the way it sounds.
