Mine is weird. I couldn't quite achieve what I heard in my head and I ran out of time, so I had to send it in as is. Oh well, life goes on.......I hope. But I can't wait to hear everyone else's.

Ross, quit hogging the mic! Great song from Syd and me. Sydney is a very good singer, it's hard to believe she's only 6. Very cute song you two.

Klownhole had me laughing my ass off....again. They immortalized Dan-O and he's famous now. .........Dan-O, can I have your autograph before Eric Mc B buys them all up at 10 cents on the dollar and puts them on ebay for 10k each? :P

Steakhaus, you tricked us. I've been wondering when someone was going to enter some German industrial. Shweeet!

So many great songs this week, I'm down loading the rest to listen while I work today. But on first listen, I'm looking forward to some awesomenessizm.

Okay just started downloading and thought I'd second Billy's awsome tunes observation, though I'd like to offer a special thank you to Lyric Burgler... Excellent tune dude! :D

Some nice ditties. I thought the Hostess Mostess track was really well done but ended up voting for Syd and Me on the basis of top notch accents and sweet muted trumpet solo.

After the first listen I am particularly enjoying Hostess Mostess, No Ghost, Thanks Glenny for the Frisbee, and Syd and Me. I'll get back with some reviews after giving everything a better listen.

Are Grey With Vox and Pipefist supposed to sound that much alike? I'm hearing the same song for those links.

Billy's Little Trip - Now THIS is the Billy's Little Trip I want to hear. Big sound, great tone on those drums, everything is separated well, and it's just rocking out in a weird kind of zombified manner. Those vocals are appropriately creepy. This reminds me of SOMETHING but I can't think of what it is. I didn't listen to the lyrics, and I didn't care to. The song just sounds cool. The thunder thing at the beginning might be cheesy, but hell I like cheesy. This is awesome.

c hack - I like the melody on this one. I wish you'd been able to get a band in on this one though. I really, really wanted a band to jump in there somewhere. I like the do do diddle do do stuff though. I think you should do more with this song later if you can.

Cynthia Size and the @eclectic sp00ns - These vocals sound like they are pretty dang good, but of that effect I am not fond. It kind of ruins the vocs, honestly. Huh, for some reason I just got reminded of the Metroid Prime music. Weird. I'm not sure how to feel about this song. I don't think I like it as a song by itself. It might go well to some crazy video or something though.

Double Helix Bros. - These vocals sound familiar. Is that Wages? I wasn't following that collab thread very well. As a song, this isn't too compelling. The vocals don't seem to fit too well. I'm not sure what I could offer as far as constructive criticism, because I don't really like anything about this.

That's all I can do for now, folks. I'm going to sleep.

Thanks! I actually tried adding a full band (well, bass and midi drums), but it got muddy and crappy, so I stripped it all out when I submitted it. I think I will try it again though -- I agree, I want the full-band sound too.

Reviews -

Billy's Little Trip: Man, you've got a great sound. Very professional. Live studio quality. I really like the Pink Floyd/Radiohead main parts, but the hard part is kind of letting me down a bit. I'm not sure why. The riff is good if a little plain, but I think it's the atonal aspect of the hollering. Still, good song.

CarpetBurn: Vocal treatments are distracting. And the riffs/melodies don't really hold up for a 6:00 song. And I know a little something about that. Nice guitar work though.

c-hack: minimalist, but not to good affect. Sorry.

Cranial Biffida: I did the guitars on this, so I'm biased. But I think this song is amazing. It's really long, but there are a lot of cool parts and it doesn't dwell on or return to a single part for too long. Very heavy with some actual dynamics in places. Fun application of Edgar Allen Poe and norse mythology in the lyrics.

Cynthiasize-eclectic spoons: Neat voice. Is that a real person or a fancy text to speech thing? I'm assuming it's a real person. I actually like it. The music could do with some structure and overt melody. At least, I think this type of music needs some bombastic melody. Like Muse, New Order, PSB, etc...

Double Helix Bros: Cool Beck sounds. Not much else for me to get excited about.

Eddie Lance: I'm a sucker for well applied piano. But, it would be nice if there was more here.

Hipwreckd: Good opening riff. Nice stereo image. Is that Zack Wylde doing vocals? Nice, interesting changeup. Hmm, not liking the second vocals as much. Music is nice though. The return to the opening part is welcome.

Hostess Mostess: This is good stuff. A little strained on the higher parts. But this is quality work that I can't find fault in.

Jolly Roger: Yikes. That's quite a sound. Not much going on here.

Klownhole: This was a rush job. Not a Rush job. We did it Saturday night after the song was due. And we just weren't as inspired as we were on the previous fight. But the most notable difference is that this is not only one take, but a rough first mix. Normally I spend more time and do multiple mixes, which probably surprises most of you. But this is raw with a little effect on the vocals. Submitted it an hour after we finished recording. Hopefully Dan-O has a sense of humor about it.

Lyric Burglar: Good energy. Not my kind of thing though. I'm simple, I want this to be They Might Be Giants, or Devo, or Alice Cooper - Special Forces. But it's not. And I'm sad.

mc EricB: No sir, don't like it.

Micosaudad: This is ok. I appreciate the length.

No Ghost: There is a nice mopiness to this. But not enough atmosphere.

Pipefist: Nice sounds. I can tell this is ok for what it is.

Queen Anthony Slace: This is fun. Nice vocals and clangy boinky sounds. Good harmonies. This is fun.

Signboy: This is kinda cool. I like vocal harmonies on the chorus. good beat behind the half-time guitar line. I always like that.

Spinlock: This is ok. Not doing much for me. Most common people singing earnestly sound the same to me.

Spinning Merkaba: Cool. I understand why people pan vocals out to the sides, but I rarely like the effect. And I don't here either. BUt I like the music. Cool guitar and synth line.

Steakhaus: Fuck yeah. This is what I'm talking about. KMFDM'ish. Too many notes for Discharge, and not noisy or fast enough. Vocals don't actually add much to this. I like the effort though.

Syndandme: That's someone's kid. Probably yours, no fair. I can't say anything bad about it. But honestly, this is cute as hell. ANd both vocals are very nice.

Thank Glenny for the Frisbee: Need's more something. Not capturing my interest. Sorry.

I know what you mean. I toiled over the main chorus until I ran out of time and had to make a decision and go with it. I think even a double time drum beat and a screaming back up vocal would have done it. The whole lay out on this one was a new one for me. I had to work hard NOT to add a lead solo in this song. I even had one waiting in the wings, just in case I felt like saying, "fuck all yuz all, this song needs a solo!" :P Thanks Mr. Wad, maybe my next hard part won't let you down as much. That sounds naughty. :?

Yeah, the thunder was just a mood setter. Plus I've always wanted thunder in a song. Unfortunately now I can never do it again, so feel privileged that I blew my thunder wad on you. Thanks Wes.

Damn! I knew I shouldn't have deleted my sweet muted trumpet solo!
