They sound like they are a Song Fight band that got picked up by a label. Plus, I haven't looked into it, but they have a close concept to the guy from built to spill (can't think of his name) from the songs I've heard thus far. Thoughts?

No, I was thinking Doug Martsch in general.
But for those not familiar with LCD, my old drummer just emailed this link to me. LCD Sound System Click on "videos" then click the links for high or lo-fi, you won't be disapointed.

I love hyperbole, so no not hands down the best of 00's so far, but the album is fucking great. Also, I think if one were going to make the most ludicrous musical comparison of all time, LCD to Built to Spill would be one of the top contenders.

Charlotte Hatherley.

She was the guitarist from Ash, now she does her own brand of pop and it's guilty pleasure good.

These past weeks have been a great trip bringing me deeper into the land of prog rock/metal bands. Here's the most recent ones (sure I'll include the one I already mentioned!)

Porcupine Tree - Deadwing
Genesis - Wind and Wuthering
Yes - 90125
Symphony X - V

To be honest, I'm pretty sure that the Yes CD is not their proggiest, but it's actually got some pretty good tunes on it. I also got Genesis - We Can't Dance, but the only really proggy tunes on that one are Fading Lights and Driving the Last Spike, so I figured not to count it. I really enjoy the trance aspects of Porcupine Tree, as well as the good-old fashioned songwriting talent of Steven Wilson. Symphony X just blew me away though. These guys may just be the most intense band on the planet. I may go on a road trip to see SX soon.

Podington Bear! \o/

Podington totally captures the SongFight! spirit, releasing a new track every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this year.

I'm listening to the new Feist album on myspace. Really good stuff. It's really great for late night listening. I might go buy my first cd in a long while.
