Change of Heart - Tummysuckle

Post by Märk »

If you're not Canadian, and weren't around in the late early 90's, you'll have no clue what I'm talking about. This band was fucking awesome. Ian Blurton, the singer went on to form Blurtonia, then C'Mon (playing with the bassist from Nashville Pussy! Rowr!) but IMO has never equalled the raw energy of this seminal Canadian altrock band.

Don't try to find anything from these guys on p2p, it just ain't there. I lucked out and found this CD in Salvation Army for 3 bucks. If you want to hear some samples, PM me, I'll hook you up. Also, if anyone has 'Smile' by this band, PM me and I will give you virtual love.

Oh fuckin' sweet.
l found the 'Smile' CD by this band on ebay a couple weeks ago, and I just got it. I am totally re-living 1992 right now.

I think this is probably my favorite album of all time. I had the cassette back then, and literally wore it out. The tape was worn so thin you could hardly hear it. God, I hated cassettes.

If anyone wants to hear my favorite album of all time, PM me, I'll mp3 you up. I think Ian Blurton would even endorse that, seeing as the album's been out of print for years. And he's one of the original DIY indie guys. He likes cats, too.

I discovered this band completely by chance circa 2002 on a Canadian radio station (was living in Detroit, MI at the time). they played all or most of Tummysuckle -- and me and my friend were HOOKED. we called the station to find out what it was (had NEVER done that before!) and it took us weeks to track down a CD copy on the internet, but we finally did. and our minds were blown!

tummysuckle is truly an amazing album. so good, through and through. great songwriting, great production, just... wow.

none of their work before or after approached it. were any of Blurton's later projects worthwhile?

Oh wow. Yeah, Detroit is near to Toronto, where these guys were from.
Ian Blurton was in Blurtonia (kind of sounds like C.o.H), Bionic (awesome garagey noise rock) and now is in C'Mon (straight ahead punk rock) with the bassist from Nashville Pussy (who is also his girlfriend)

It's all good. The man is just an amazing artist.
